• Description Cut: Crowler tells Bonaparte that Aster Phoenix enrolled in Duel Academy and points out everyone knows who he is. The next scene is Jaden saying he has no idea who his opponent is.
• Early-Bird Cameo: Tyranno Hassleberry makes his debut at the end of the episode, angrily asking why he was placed in Ra Yellow and not Obelisk Blue despite his high scores.
• Early-Installment Weirdness: Aster's dubbed voice is slightly deeper here than in later episodes.
• "Eureka!" Moment: Hearing the new student call himself A.P. allows Syrus to eventually figure out he's Aster Phoenix and take out a copy of the same book Crowler had earlier and shows the others a picture and article the book has about him.
• Everyone Has Standards: Dorothy tells Aster he won't survive for long using a deck constructed out of leftover cards. Considering season 4 shows she barely knows anything about dueling, its surprising to hear her say that.
• Handicapped Badass: Aster's deck was made of random cards from booster packs. He nearly defeated Jaden too.
