Recap / Yu Gi Oh Arc V Ep 23 Arcane Eye

Go To

Continuing the battle between Yuya and Mieru, she uses a Flip combo to destroy Yuya's monsters and seriously damage his Life Points, while he remains unable to attack. Mieru urges him to end the duel before her prediction comes true and something terrible happens to him, but Yuya refuses to give up. Her prediction comes true when the chandelier of the action field falls and almost strikes Yuya, but he evades it and has a vision of a new monster sleeping in his deck. When he draws Yuzu's Polymerization card he accidentally shuffled into his deck that morning, Yuya realizes what the next step is from Pendulum Summoning.

Yuya activates Polymerization to fuse Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon with Stargazer Magician, creating the Rune-Eyes Pendulum Dragon and using it to attack for the win. Mieru is dazzled by the confidence and charm Yuya displays in his Entertainment Duel style and falls head over heels in love with him as her tarot cards told her would happen — something Yuzu does not appreciate at all.

Meanwhile, Sora wins his sixth duel in a row, qualifying him for the Junior Youth tournament.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Yuzu. She was absolutely pissed when Mieru started glomping Yuya.
  • Defeat Equals Friendship: More like Defeat Equals Romance in this case, as Mieru becomes determined that Yuya is her destined husband after he defeats her.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • The lead up to Yuya summoning Rune-Eyes is shown as Rune-Eyes itself calling to Yuya. This hints at Yuya's status as a reincarnation of Zarc and his power to speak to duel spirits.
    • The crystal ball breaking when Mieru's principal tries to look into his future really sets up Yuya's future
  • Heart Symbol: Mieru gets them at the end.
  • Poke in the Third Eye: When trying to scry into Yuya's future, the teacher's crystal ball breaks in half.
  • Screw Destiny: Yuya defied his fate that he would be hurt.
  • Ship Tease: Between Yuya and Yuzu, when Yuya returns Yuzu's Polymerization, he thanks her for her help. They even had hearts in the background.

  • Took a Level in Badass: Yuya takes the first of many levels when he performs a Fusion Summoning, marking the first of many instances to come where he incorporates new summoning methods into his deck.
