Yuya begins to go into a Heroic BSoD after seeing Reiji Pendulum Summon, but Shuzo refuses to let him run away and challenges him to a duel. The Action Field is Magical Broadway, which isn't just any field, but the signature field of Yuya's father, Yusho. Shuzo not only shows himself a good duelist, but uses a combo to temporarily snatch Yuya's Pendulum Monsters and use them before giving them back.
Shuzo tells Yuya his father was a pioneer of Action Duels, and when other people began to copy him, he wasn't upset, he was happy that his style was so beloved and that more Entertainment Duelists like him were around, and resolved to push himself to the next level of his craft. Shuzo tells Yuya he must be the same; yes, other Pendulum Monsters exist, and will probably be mass produced, so he must go beyond them and better himself further. Inspired, Yuya wins the duel with his trademark flash and style.

- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Turns out Shuzo actually is a competent duelist (enough to steal pendulum summoning from Yuya and almost win the duel). He just likes teaching more than winning, and so he never became a pro.
- Get a Hold of Yourself, Man!: The entire episode is basically one from Shuzo to Yuya.
- Heroic BSoD: Yuya begins to have one at the beginning.
- Hidden Depths: Shuzo shows his in this episode, proving himself a capable teacher and raising Yuya's morale enough to shake him out of his Heroic BSoD.
