Recap / Yu Gi Oh Arc V Ep 135 The Trembling Dimensions

Go To

Akaba Leo has successfully activated Arc-V, and the fusion of the dimensions has begun. On the other hand, Yuya is driven into a corner by Yuri. However, Yuya continues to fight fiercely for the sake of Yuto and his friends.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • All Your Powers Combined: Yuya's final move involved using Clear Wing, Dark Rebellion and Odd-Eyes' effects to truly beat Yuri. Which was represented as Yuya, Yuto and Yugo working together to stop Yuri.
  • Ax-Crazy: Yuri really takes his obsession with becoming one with Yuya to a whole new level here.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The Dragon Boys are finally "one", just as Zarc planned.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Zarc reveals himself when he states that he (Yuya) won the duel just as the Lancers wanted.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Defied; Yuri stops Reiji, Reira, Sora, and Edo from interfering in his Duel with Yuya.
  • Darkest Hour: Arc-V is starting to fuse the Dimensions but for some reason Ray hasn't revived, with Reira saying he can't hear her voice. While Zarc was able to successfully revive.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: Yuya's victory over Yuri is this. Yuri spent the last few episodes defeating some of the best duelists in the show and he admits his loss to Yuya is his first one ever.
  • Evil Counterpart: Yuri's Ridicule World to Yuya's Smile World. Besides the obvious naming opposite Smile World powers every monster based on the number of monsters on the field while Ridicule World ups the ATK of the opponent's monsters by 100 each but prevents them from attacking if their current ATK exceeds their original ATK.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: As Yuya's final turn continues, his eyes get redder and redder. When he won, his entire pupil was a bright red. It does a good job at hinting that Zarc is taking over.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: It takes a rousing speech from Reiji as well as his encouragement alongside Reira, Sora, and Edo to convince him to fight back against Yuri.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom/Red Eyes, Take Warning: As Yuya starts to fall into Zarc's control, his entire eyes start to glow a frightening bright red.
  • Graceful Loser: Shockingly Yuri. While he was shocked at losing, he was fine losing to Yuya.
  • Hellish Pupils: Yuya has these as a result of Zarc taking control.
  • Heroic BSoD: Yuya goes into one as a result of sending "Smile World" to the graveyard as a condition to activate his "Farewell" Trap card.
  • Heroic Resolve: Even if Yuya is about to be beaten and fuse with Yuri, becoming Zarc in the process, he'll beat Yuri if it's the last thing he'll do.
  • Hope Spot: A rather cruel one, Yuya was able to defeat Yuri using his, Yuto and Yugo's dragon making it seem that they successfully repelled Zarc. Then it's revealed that Zarc was able to take control of Yuya at the last second.
  • Invincible Villain: Finally averted, with Yuri losing to Yuya.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Yuri attacks Yuya head-on with Starve Venom, Clear Wing, and Dark Rebellion, without even bothering to take advantage of their effects.
  • Madness Mantra: Yuya continues struggling to stop the darkness from consuming him completely. His counterparts, on the other hand...
Yuto: Now is the time we become one...
Yugo: Now is the time we become one...
Yuri: Now is the time we become one!
  • Meaningful Echo: After Yuya wins the duel, he directly quotes what Zarc said to the Original Dimension's people, revealing his possessed state.
    Yuya: As you all wished!
  • Nightmare Face: Yuri gives plenty. But the most disturbing one comes from Yuya or more accurately Zarc in control of Yuya's body.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: For Yuya. While he won the duel, he focused too much on winning that Zarc took control. Which was what Yuya was trying to prevent in the first place.
  • Sanity Slippage: As the duel goes on Yuri is noticeably making more and more insane faces as Zarc's influence gets stronger and stronger.
  • Tainted Veins: Yuya when possessed by Zarc has these.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom:
    • Leo speeding up of the process to fuse the dimension messed up Ray's revival as even with Arc-V activated, Ray isn't coming back and Reira states he can't hear her voice anymore.
    • Reiji makes a mistake in his inspiring speech to Yuya to just focus on winning the duel, which is the catalyzing key phrase that allows Zarc to takeover Yuya's body, as his desire to focus on just winning and destroying everything is reawakened in Yuya's body at last.
  • Wham Episode: This episode marks the return of Zarc, in consciousness at least, as his original dimension body seems to not have reappeared. He reappears at the end of the episode in his human-dragon fused state as the Fusion Pendulum monster, Supreme King Zarc.
  • Wham Line:
Zarc-possessed Yuya: O, Astrograph Magician, who rules over space and time! Combine our desires into profound power!
  • Wham Shot:
    • Yuya taking control of Clear Wing.
    • As Zarc starts his revival, Stargazer Magician and Timegazer Magician leave Yuya's field and fuse, creating a sun which revives their original form as Astrograph Magician, and initiating the re-fusion of the four Dragons into the Supreme King Zarc.
    • The return of Supreme King Dragon Zarc.
  • Xanatos Gambit: For Zarc, whoever wins the Duel will end up in his favor anyway. Yuya is the winner.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Reiji, with a rousing speech, gets Yuya out of his Heroic BSoD mode by convincing him to pull through with his own Dueling, which should not heavily revolve around Smile World. Unfortunately, it ultimately backfired on him as his advice of just focusing on winning is what allowed Zarc to take over.
  • You Can't Thwart Stage One: Despite Yuya beating Yuri, Zarc is still able to revive because Zarc was able to take control of Yuya's body due to Yuya's strong desire to win at all cost.
