Tropes Featured in this episode:

  • Call-Back:
    • Superboy asks Brion if he can stay "whelmed", a term used frequently in the first season of the show.
    • Icicle Jr. alludes to the episode where Superboy and Miss Martian go inside the super prison in disguise.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Superboy and Icicle Jr. talk about Miss Martian while fighting with each other.
  • Friendly Enemy: Icicle Jr. sincerely congratulates Superboy upon learning of his engagement to Miss Martian, all the while blasting him with ice beams.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The Goode goggles test users for the meta-gene. If they test positive, they're brainwashed to travel to a nearby meta trafficking depot. This scheme works great until Beast Boy happened to put a pair on in the previous episode, bringing it to the attention of the Justice League, the Team and the Outsiders simultaneously. This has the effect of bringing Gar back to active duty, blowing Gretchen Goode's cover to the heroes, and exposing the locations of the entire Goode network of trafficking depots. All of them get taken down in a simultaneous operation between the different groups.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: When Devastation taunts Black Lightning and says she can take his attacks, he stops holding back and puts her down.
  • The Mole: At the end of the episode, Terra texts Deathstroke, "I'm in."
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The masks the various buyers/spectators at the Meta trafficking depot wear are clearly based on the masks worn by the Court of Owls, an organization usually opposing Batman.
    • Granny Goodness is connected to a metahuman fight club. See also Club Dark Side from Final Crisis.
