Recap / You Me And The Apocalypse S 1 E 5 Right In The Nuts 23 Days To Go

Go To

With Mary's help, Jamie learns the horrible truth about Ariel and Layla. Rhonda and Leanne arrive at Leanne's, where her family is less than welcoming to Rhonda. Scotty and Arnold set out to save Spike from Ariel. Father Jude and Sister Celine investigate another potential messiah who reveals their feelings for each other.

Jamie, Dave and the now-conscious and self-aware Mary drive to London in search of Ariel. While exploring the house, Mary reveals that she abandoned Jamie because she thought he was the son of God, and also that his wife Layla and Ariel's girlfriend Hawkwind are the same person.

Rhonda and Leanne arrive to Leanne's house, where Rhonda is captured and tied down in the basement by her white supremacist family on the grounds of being married to an Indian and there being a high reward for her. After a while, in private, Leanne reveals she already knows about Rajesh. She gives Rhonda some money and sends her on her way, alone.

Holding Spike hostage, Ariel contacts Scotty and asks for the information about the Mount Genesis bunker, as well as the keys. Arnold goes to save Spike instead, but Scotty nevertheless arrives and knocks Ariel out. The two load Ariel in the trunk of their car, but after being gone to destroy the evidence of the events, he is no longer there, courtesy of Molby and Larsson.

Father Jude and Sister Celine go to Celine's childhood city, Naples, to investigate a supposed faith healer, Antonia Volenski. After Antonia tells them off, they still catch up with her at her regular bar, and end up spending the night together, talking about their impending doom, and raiding a warehouse for food for Antonia to redistribute. All the while, Celine and Jude start having feelings for each other.

The You, Me and the Apocalypse episode "Right in the Nuts - 23 Days to Go" provides examples of:

  • Foreshadowing: During the opening credits, the crate Scotty is leaning on is revealed to have a person trapped inside. While this plot point is not followed upon, it is a sure sign that the bunker might not be safe for its occupants.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: Jude is visibly taken aback when he sees Celine in a dress and with her hair loose.
