Tropes
- Batman Gambit: During the climax, Xena attacked Garr. Since he's an innocent, she knew that doing so would cause Gabrielle to snap out of the trance, which cuts off Aiden's sustenance and leaves him vulnerable.
- Blood Knight: Shortly before the episode, Xena and Gabrielle were confronted by four bandits. Xena promptly whooped them, but Gabrielle says she was smiling and enjoyed it a little too much (particularly when throwing one bandit into the others).Xena: It was a thing of beauty. Did you see how they fell over? Just like a game of dominoes.
- Emotion Eater: Aiden feeds off a person's goodness. When he's done, all that's left is a husk resembling a statue.
- Sanity Slippage: Garr's platoon was previously ensnared by Aiden. While the other men were drained, Garr resisted. He says it drove him mad, but he was able to survive. He recovers his sanity by the end of the episode.
- Taken for Granite: It is revealed that Aiden sucks the goodness out of his victims until they turn to stone.
