Tropes

  • As the Good Book Says...: Nicole and Waverly reference the plagues of Moses playfully while Nicole tries not to vomit frogs.
  • Bait-and-Switch: The episode opens with what appears to be Nicole and Waverly's wedding, but it's actually a dream.
  • Broken Pedestal: Doc is upset by watching a video of Wyatt where he says cruel things about Doc.
  • The Bus Came Back: Rosita, who hasn't been seen since Wynonna gave birth and was thought to have been killed when the curse broke along with the rest of the Revenants.
  • Casual Kink: When Waverly needs to tie Nicole up, she says it wouldn't be the first time. Then she goes to get the Kinky Cuffs.
  • Deal with the Devil: Nicole made one of these with Clanton, but it's still yet to be revealed what the deal was.
  • Dream Intro: The episode opens with Nicole dreaming about her wedding to Waverly, but soon turns into a Catapult Nightmare.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Nicole's dream foreshadows both the fire and the eventual reveal that she was the one who set it.
    • Wynonna briefly brings up her grudge against Rosita, who then shows up at the very end of the episode.
  • Freudian Slip: Wynonna calls the owner of The Glory Hole a "sexy demon."
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Wynonna switches to this from her usual colorful vocabulary because she doesn't want to swear in front of the nun.
  • Hollywood Nuns: All the nuns are in full habits.
  • House Fire: The Homestead is on fire at the beginning of the episode. Luckily, Rachel puts out the fire before too much is damaged.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Jeremy justifies not being in touch with Nicole during the year and a half because he did what he had to do to survive.
  • Internal Reveal: Everyone finds out that Nicole did something terrible while they were in the Garden. Unfortunately, she's prevented from telling them exactly what that is.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Jeremy looks right into the camera when he says "I know how this looks but I'm asking you to trust us." The scene also looks bad from the viewers' perspective, as he and Nedley are drowning Nicole.
  • Match Cut: Clanton smashing a glass cuts to Nedley cleaning up a broken one.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Jeremy says "I know how this looks" when Waverly finds him and Nedley drowning Nicole to stop the frog curse.
  • Or Was It a Dream?: Nicole's dream of lighting Wynonna's cigar happened as she was lighting the Homestead on fire in a sleepwalking trance.
  • Please, I Will Do Anything!: Nicole says this word for word in a flashback to her Deal with the Devil with Clanton.
  • The Reveal:
    • Nicole was the one who set the fire when she dreamt about lighting Wynonna's cigar.
    • Billy wasn't just killed by the Reaper. It turned him into one.
  • Rousing Speech: Wynonna gives one of these in the barn about going after the Clantons, then lampshades the trope by name.
  • Running Gag: When Jeremy walks in on Nicole and Waverly kissing, he references that Wynonna tends to do that a lot.
Jeremy: Sorry to pull a Wynonna.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Wynonna says they shouldn't let Mean Girls into the gift shop, then says "she doesn't even go here!" to them.
    • Hearing the video of Wyatt Earp, Wynonna asks if it's an ad for The Big Lebowski.
    • Nedley has an interesting cure for illness:
Nedley: Did you try chicken soup and a One Day At a Time marathon?
    • Since Nicole is vomiting frogs, Wynonna greets her with "What up, Kermit?"
  • That's What She Said: Said word for word by Wynonna.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: This episode is full of these, given that Nicole is cursed with vomiting frogs every time she tries to tell someone what she did.
  • Wham Line:
    • "I don't know where Peacemaker is." "But I do."
    • "I need you to kill me."
