Five young girls are brought together and learn of their destiny as inter-dimensional guardians.
The episode contains the following tropes:
- The Chooser of the One: Yan-Lin is seemingly this to WITCH (although later episodes reveal that she was merely passing along the Heart, she didn't choose the girls).
- Does This Remind You of Anything?: The very first transformation of WITCH involves energy swirling around each of the girls before sealing them inside a "sac" of sorts. The imagery is very clearly meant to invoke them as being embryos, fitting in that this is the new generation of Guardians being "born". Furthered by the fact that this style of transformation was rarely, if ever, seen again in the series.
- Elemental Powers: Each of the Guardians of the Veil, sans the keeper and leader, possess powers based on the four classical elements.
- How Do I Shot Web?: The girls first transformation is rife with this. Each manages to use their powers in some manner or another but it's very unskilled.
- Jumped at the Call: Irma is overjoyed to learn of her's and the others' destiny.
- New Transfer Student: Will's arrival in Heatherfield brings with it the beginning of their adventures as WITCH.
- Passing the Torch: Yan-Lin reflects that she was one of the Guardians of her generation and now WITCH are the Guardians of theirs.
