Flug and Co must help a villain named V.I.R.U.S. to complete his goal and defeat superhero named Airlock. And Flug must do it to not miss the finale of his favourite TV show.
Tropes
- Air-Vent Passageway: Demencia's favored route into the satellite, allowing her to get the drop on Airlock.
- Arm Cannon: Airlock's armor can shift into this or an alternate form that fires a quick-drying paste capable of sealing hard vacuum.
- Ax-Crazy: Near the end Airlock claims she will kill Flug and Demencia for the sheer pleasure of it and starts foaming at the mouth.
- Body Horror: In the soap opera Black Hat's watching, a woman wishes she could go out with her boyfriend and her horse at the same time. Black Hat obliges and merges them both, to her rather inexplicable delight.
- Brick Joke: First we see Black Hat screw up an Expy of Teletubbies. Later we see 5.0.5's reaction to the show as Black Hat's alterations take effect.
- Call-Back: The Hatbot vaporizes a Rigby-looking raccoon the same way Black Hat vaporizes a Mordecai-looking bird in "Bad Security".
- Continuity Nod: Flug see on TV a reporter and Goldheart (to his annoyance) talking about events of "The Dreadful Dawn".
- Digital Piracy Is Evil: The network execs and V.I.R.U.S. treat the pirating and leaking of the season finale of a TV show just as seriously as a terrorist attack. Downplayed with Flug, who's not a pirate and thinks that killing for a TV show is frankly excessive. Averted with Airlock and Black Hat: Airlock is Ax-Crazy and just wants to fight someone, while Black Hat gets V.I.R.U.S.' "soul", sees the hero get killed and gets to annoy Dr Flug.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Defied. Flug assumes that Airlock wants to kill them for trying to leak a TV show season finale but she claims she will kill Flug and Demencia just because she likes to do it.
- Even Evil Has Standards: When Demencia tells Dr. Flug to just watch his favorite show after it has aired, he tells to her that he's a villain, not a pirate.
- Extreme Omnivore: After Demencia nearly loses her beloved Black Hat toy, she makes the decision to eat it so they can stay forever together.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: If you look at V.I.R.U.S.' file on Airlock when Black Hat shoves Flug into the screen, you can see that Airlock's real name is Amanda Hamilton Weaver. Thus you can realise that Airlock is a woman before she takes off her helmet.
- Gilligan Cut: After Airlock gets herself thrust out of the satellite and the single escape ship is destroyed, Flug wonders how they're going down, and V.I.R.U.S. offers to help. Cue the view of the crashed satellite near Black Hat Manor.
- Hammerspace Hair: When Airlock cracks the satellite open, a bunch of weapons and random junk are sucked out of Demencia's mane.
- Hero Of The Week: Airlock.
- Hidden Depths: It was revealed in this episode that Demencia is learning French.
- Inexplicably Awesome: Demencia is somehow able to No-Sell the cold vacuum of space. It makes Airlock question What the Hell Are You?.
- Nominal Hero: The first thing Airlock does is force a man who criticized her into giving her his money and watch, and warning him that the wallet better have a lot of money.
- When Flug's watching the news, he comes across an interview with Goldheart, who's asked on his opinion of Sunblast, following his disappearance. Goldheart mentions that while he didn't know Sunblast, he knows he was a real hero. An irritated Flug comments that at least he got one thing right - Goldheart didn't know Sunblast... at all.
- No Sense of Personal Space: Black Hat all but slams Flug into V.I.R.U.S.' screen, causing the AI to mention that, had it a physical body, Flug would be uncomfortably close.
- Poke the Poodle: V.I.R.U.S.' evil plan was the leak the season finale of Flug's favorite TV show early, although in-universe, this is treated as Serious Business.
- Reveal Shot: While Flug is fretting over missing his show, Demencia looks out a window and cheerily notes she can see the manor. Heartened, Flug thanks his lucky stars the mission's so close to home... and then he realizes they're on a satellite.
- Rewatch Bonus: At the start of the episode, several men in suits are discussing V.I.R.U.S. and decide to send Airlock, who's remarkably comfortable with threatening them, to deal with it. The scene makes much more sense when you later realize they're not government spooks, but rather network execs.
- Running Gag: For this episode's demeaning summoning, Demencia, 5.0.5. and Flug get dragged into Flug's own paper bag mask and dropped into Black Hat's office, and when the meeting ends, they get spat at the mission site out of an identical bag... that's still full with groceries.
- Samus Is a Girl: Airlock is first introduced in full armor with a voice modulator that makes her sound like a man. She later takes off her helmet, revealing she is a woman. She even looks like Samus, especially with the Arm Cannon.
- Sanity Slippage: Spending 10 minutes with Flug and Demencia drove Airlock bonkers.
- Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Airlock would rather drift out into space than spend another minute with Flug and Demencia.
- Serious Business: The network execs hired a hero to stop a guy who stole a finale of TV show and was planning to leak the finale of TV show a few hours earlier than intended.
- Shout-Out: Black Hat screws up two TV programs parodying Teletubbies and La rosa de Guadalupe, respectively.
- Earlier, a hatbot vaporizes a Rigby-looking raccoon.
- Skewed Priorities: Flug thinks more about his TV show than the mission. He even literally hid behind a console to fire blindly at Airlock rather than risk seeing the bits flashing through the screens.
- Soap Within a Show: The second program Black Hat screws up.
- Stating the Simple Solution: Demencia tells Dr. Flug just watch his favourite TV show at the satellite or after it has aired. He tells her that he's a villain, not a pirate.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: Flug finally goes to see the finale of his show ... only for V.I.R.U.S. to spoil it for him as Black Hat's way of payment.
