Beggin' on Your Knees

Tori is asked by a bad boy, Ryder Daniels, to perform a duet with him for the Full Moon Jam and immediately jumps at the chance, but her friends are concerned because of his bad reputation.

Tropes:

  • An Aesop: People aren't always who they seem.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Jade and Ryder are disturbed by Cat's happy reaction when she gets calls from people who have just been in car accidents. Given the fact that sociopaths are excellent at faking empathy and nonverbal cues, it's possible Ryder was faking it.
  • Humiliation Conga: Ryder is given one by Tori and all the girls he's gone out with just so he could use them to get himself a good grade and then breaking their hearts directly afterwards. Tori sings "Begging On Your Knees" in front of the whole school, her friends and Ryder's ex-girlfriends keeping him onstage and revealing his manipulative ways to the entire school and giving him a well-deserved humiliation. To top it off, another group sing "You just got burned" at him directly afterwards.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Both Jade and Trina tell Tori she shouldn't be hooking up with Ryder.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Turns out Ryder only dates girls to get a good grade. Once the project is aced, he immediately breaks up with them, which a girl, who used to date Ryder, reveals to Robbie.
Christine: Well, I thought I was dating him, then I found out his little game.
    Robbie: Keep going.
Christine: Ok, so Ryder talked me into dancing with him for a class project you know cause I'm a good dancer. And then right after I helped him get an A, he never called me again.
Robbie: Oh, you must have felt so dirty.
Christine: Nah, he does it to a lot of girls. He uses them to get a good grade, then see ya.
  • Pet the Dog: Jade actually does enjoy listening to Tori sing her song and watching her get revenge on Ryder.
  • Running Gag: The quartet.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: The guy congratulating Ryder for dating Tori allows for Ryder to make it clear his exes are in fact telling the truth and aren't just spurned lovers and Tori will end up no differently.
  • The Sociopath: Ryder seems to be this. He has no capability of seeing people as anything other than tools, is superficially charming, excellent at faking empathy and emotions, and has an inflated opinion of himself.
  • "The Villain Sucks" Song: "Beggin' on Your Knees", the song Tori writes, which is about Ryder only using her to get a good grade and exposes him as the troublemaking liar he is.
  • Woman Scorned: All of Ryder's victims (Tori included) take their revenge on him by humiliating him in front of the entire school. He had it coming.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Ryder to all the girls he dated once the project he works on with them are finished.
