Bob's Bad Breath: When Larry gets excruciatingly bad breath from eating sardines and garlic nog, it hampers Bob's attempts at acting as the new store greeter for Pa Grape's store. Things get even worse afterwards when Larry also gets a job at Pa's store, to which his foul breath also chases away the customers, before Bob and Larry learn a lesson about the importance of a good attitude and proper hygiene.

Trading Places: After Bob and Jimmy both get fed up with the shenanigans of their respected roommates, Larry and Jerry, the two decide to make a trade. As a result, Bob goes to live with Jimmy, while Jerry goes to live with Larry. However, Bob and Jimmy begin to regret making the trade afterwards and desire to have their proper roommates back.

Tropes found in Bob's Bad Breath:

  • Apathetic Clerk: Bob becomes rather abrasive once people call him out for not helping them look around the store. His anger wasn't unjustified though, as his job was only to say "Hi" to people walking into the shop.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Larry takes this up to eleven in his Disney Acid Sequence song. Among the things he claims to love eating are garlic-filled cookies, onion pudding, and sauerkraut popsicles.
  • Disney Acid Sequence: "The Tooth Song" contains visual effects of the food items Larry is digesting while at home alone.
  • Epic Fail: Larry decides to ride his bike on the ceiling by putting glue on the wheels so that it can ride on the ceiling, but unfortunately, after a while, the glue then dries, which causes the bike to stop in its tracks and for Larry to fall to the floor while he was riding his bike.
  • Growling Gut: Larry's stomach growls while he is home alone, prompting him to make a sandwich.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Lampshaded after Bob calls out Larry for being inconsiderate by chasing away the customers with his bad breath, before Pa shows up and says, "Sounds like the pot is calling the kettle black".
  • Lame Pun Reaction: Pa gives Bob a toothbrush with "attitude" written on it. Get it? Because the last syllable of "attitude" sounds similar to "tooth".
    Bob: Attitude brush. I get it.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Once Larry decides to get a job at Pa Grape's store too so he can see his friend Bob, Larry stinks up the store with his bad breath and causes many customers to leave, yet everyone blames it on Bob instead because of his terrible attitude exhibited as a welcomer. This comes into play at the end when the aesop is delivered, with Pa Grape saying a bad attitude is like a bad breath. Of course, people had been dissatisfied by Bob's service before Larry even joined, so the misattributed bad breath was just seen as an additional factor.
  • Non-Indicative Name: The title and title card imply that Bob is the one who gets bad breath, but it's actually Larry; Bob is mistaken by the shoppers to have it after Larry gets a job.
  • Only Sane Man: Bob is clearly doing his job and isn't supposed to help the shoppers find what they're looking for (that's Pa Grape's job since he's the owner), plus he clearly advised Larry to brush his teeth after eating sardines, but Larry didn't listen, yet people blame Larry's bad breath on Bob.
  • Parrot Expo-WHAT?: This exchange, after Bob confronts Larry for chasing away the customers with his bad breath;
    Bob: This is very inconsiderate!
    Larry: Inconsider-what?
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: This is Jimmy's reaction to Bob irritably telling him to go shop, while he is still feeling tired from being kept awake.
  • Twinkle Smile: Bob's teeth twinkle after Pa accepts his request to be the new store greeter.
  • You Need a Breath Mint: Larry's bad breath causes many disgusted reactions from the shoppers.

Tropes found in Trading Places:

  • Cheshire Cat Grin: Jimmy gives off one of these while telling Bob, "Our stomachs", after the latter asks the former who the cake is for.
  • Death Glare: Jimmy gives one to Jerry after Jerry forgets to set the timer on the oven, which results in the cookies getting burned.
  • Does Not Like Spam: We learned in this episode that Bob doesn't like doughnuts.
  • Edible Ammunition: One of the things that Larry and Jerry do together is have a marshmallow fight, throwing marshmallows at each other.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: The episode ends with Jimmy and Jerry sharing a laugh together, while pretending to have cookies for teeth.
  • Friendship Song: "Very Best Friends", which is sung from the perspective of both Bob and Larry, when they each start to miss the other.
  • Grass is Greener: The plot point of the episode. Bob and Jimmy both decide to switch roommates, Bob going to live with Jimmy and Jerry going to live with Larry. Bob and Jimmy spend the day just spending time with each other, while Larry and Jerry spend the day playing and acting like fools all day long. However, Bob and Jimmy begin to regret making the trade, as they start to miss their respected roommates.
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: Larry comes up with the excuse that he and Jerry have to go cloud-hunting (while Jerry insists on "make cookies") in order to get out of watching TV with Bob and Jimmy.
  • Projectile Toast: One of the things that Larry and Jerry do during their time together is sit on the toaster, until the toaster propels them up into the air.
  • Satiating Sandwich: Bob and Jimmy both eat sandwiches, while Bob tries telling Jimmy that he had a great day, but Jimmy is more interested in eating than actually talking during a meal. Jimmy also snarfs Bob's sandwich, after he and Bob regret trading roommates. Later, Jerry has also made himself a sandwich, which he also eats in one bite, while Larry is depressed because he misses Bob.
  • Scare Chord: Happens when Jimmy is shocked to hear that Bob doesn't like donuts.
  • Shout-Out: The title of this episode takes its name from the 1983 Comedy film of the same name starring Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy.
    • Also, the books that both Bob and Jimmy read, "War and Peas" and "Of Rice and Men", are obviously a reference to War and Peace and Of Mice and Men, respectively.
  • Through His Stomach: This exchange between Bob and Jimmy, after they've made a large two-layer cake;
    Bob: Who's this cake for?
    Jimmy: La-la-la! [Tosses two ice cream cones into the air until they land on top of the cake] Our stomachs!
  • Wacky Sound Effect: While Larry and Jerry are riding on a sardine and a lobster, respectively, when Jerry mounts back onto the lobster, the lobster whinnies like a horse.
  • Wild Take: This was Jimmy's reaction to Bob telling him that he doesn't like donuts.
