Recap / Two And A Half Men S 2 E 16 Can You Eat Human Flesh With Wooden Teeth

Go To

Alan has a rough day at work and forgets to pick up Jake from soccer practice during a rainstorm, straining the relationship between the two. Charlie has to handle getting Jake to school and preparing him for a school play so Alan can meet with the IRS to handle his audit.

Tropes:

  • Cassandra Truth: Alan has a very difficult time convincing the IRS that he's telling the truth about how much alimony he's paying Judith, and the massive amount of alimony that he reported is why he's getting audited in the first place.
  • Gilligan Cut: Alan feels like he's forgotten something, Charlie assures him that it couldn't have been important, and Alan agrees. Cut to Jake, standing out in the rain after soccer practice, looking extremely pissed off.
  • Happy-Ending Massage: One of Alan's patients believes that this is what chiropractors give, and keeps trying to prompt him for one.
  • Memetic Mutation: The scene where Alan ponders a vague feeling of having forgotten something, Charlie assures him that whatever he forgot can't have been particularly important, Alan agreeing, and then shows Jake standing out in the middle of a rainstorm after soccer practice has become a meme for when a person or character forgets something important.
Person who forgot something: I just, I keep having this nagging feeling that I've forgotten something.
Charlie: Hey, if you forgot it, it probably wasn't all that important.
Person who forgot something: Yeah, I guess.
Thing that was forgotten: *standing out in the rain*
  • No Sympathy: Jake may have been forgotten by his father and left to stand out in a rainstorm after soccer practice for an extended period of time, but Charlie still has no tolerance for him ruining the back seat of his Mercedes with water and dirt.
  • School Play: Jake is playing Benjamin Franklin in one about the Founding Fathers. It goes about as well as you'd expect a play being acted out by preteens to go.
