Tropes:

  • Alien Arts Are Appreciated: Also counts as a Shout-Out.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Ratchet's reaction to hearing that Bumblebee ran off to confront MECH.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Knockout after Megatron demonstrates what the latest Cybertronian device they've unearthed does by shooting at him, thus showing it to be an Energy Shield.
Knockout: I... think I leaked a little transmission fluid.
  • Didn't See That Coming: The latest relic isn't a Decepticon doomsday weapon but a sacred relic of the Thirteen. Optimus reasons that Decepticon weapons weren't the only items sent off-world by those at Iacon.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Though Bumblebee's T-Cog was destroyed while retriving it from MECH, Ratchet was able to miraculously repairing it, restoring his ability to transform. With it out of MECH's clutches, the organization makes due with Starscream's, whom they grow tired of his arrogance and incompentence after a failed team up. Meanwhile, the Autobots lose another valuable Iacon relic to the Decepticons, but Optimus and Megatron individually discover it is useless without a Prime wielding it.
  • Friendship Moment: Ratchet was ready and willing to give up his T-Cog so Bumblebee could transform again. He didn't even seem upset when he woke up thinking his T-Cog was gone, only getting upset when he thought Bumblebee had gone off to confront MECH instead of recovering.
  • Humans Are Morons: Unfortunately, as a Decepticon, Starscream can't seem to leave this attitude behind him when he teams up with Silas. And it shows.
Silas: Do you ever not speak?
  • Insane Troll Logic: The two questions Miko asks. She asks whether after receiving a T-Cog transplant from Ratchet, will 1) Bumblebee become an ambulance and 2) he will become all cranky and grumpy himself. The answer to both is “no” as Bumblebee's car mode is a muscle sports car not an ambulance (the T-Cog won't change that) and T-Cogs are not related to personality, Ratchet is a Grumpy Old Man who is cranky because he isn't an active warrior anymore and has been relegated to medical and tech-related work.
  • It's Personal: Despite Bumblebee being ordered to stay put, Jack and Raf allow him to infiltrate MECH's latest base alone to retrieve his T-Cog.
  • Karma Houdini: MECH, courtesy of Starscream aiding them evade Bumblebee's wrath, and with Bee's T-Cog rendered unusable, MECH turns on ‘Scream instead.
  • Kick the Dog: "A relic of the Primes here on Earth? The Decepticon cause is once again indebted to the contributions of Orion Pax."
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After Starscream cruelly and needlessly mocks Bumbleebee's inability to transform without his T-cog, Starscream ends up having his own T-cog stolen from him when he returns to Silas without Bumblebee's.
  • Let Me Get This Straight...: Breakdown states this as he chips away at ice with his hammer so Megatron can acquire… a hammer.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • While in half-stasis, Ratchet references Fuzors. He also in particular names Bantor, a character from that toyline and comics.
Ratchet: He was all mandrill before I put a tiger in his tank!
    • Megatron gets the Forge of Solus Prime, but he can't use it to turn a simple piece of metal into what Knock Out stated would've become a "Fortress Maximus" grade nucleon shock cannon.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Starscream decides to pull a No MacGuffin, No Winner on Bumblebee by destroying his T-Cog. Unfortunately for him, Silas has his cohorts take 'Scream's own in exchange.
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: While any bot could use the Forge (as a hammer) provided he is strong enough, only a Prime can use it to create weapons or other tech.
  • Properly Paranoid: As Bulkhead worries about the Decepticons having the Forge, Optimus expresses certainty they don't have to worry too much about that. Megatron then demonstrates that Only the Chosen May Wield, which he says he suspected but still wanted to be sure of.
  • Scream Discretion Shot: We only see the lighting effects of MECH turning on Starscream, along with hearing his screams of pain.
  • Talking in Your Sleep: Ratchet spends a good portion of this episode in stasis (Cybertronian anesthesia), as he was about to undergo surgery to give Bumblebee his T-cog. So, when Fowler calls, we get this gem:
Ratchet (fast asleep): What? Do I hear a Fuzor in need of voice-box repair?
Fowler: WHAT'S A FUZOR?!? What's going on over there?
Ratchet (still asleep): I am able, just ask Bantor! He was all mandrill...before I put a tiger in his tank! (falls backwards).
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Silas's "alliance" with Starscream quickly devolves into this. It doesn't last long.
  • Unholy Holy Sword: Inverted with the Forge.
  • Villain Ball: The battle on the mountain cliff might have had a much worse outcome for Optimus and Arcee if Breakdown did not stupidly charge at Bulkhead while the latter was wielding the Forge of Solus Prime - thus Bulkhead smacks away Breakdown who collides into Knockout who is trying to force Optimus and Arcee off the cliff with his new energy shield weapon.
    • Starscream's inability to work with humans and his disdain for the species is the main reason Silas betrays him. Had he not spent the entire two-parter arrogantly putting down MECH he might have been able to keep the partnership going a while longer.
  • You Did Everything You Could: Ratchet blames Bumblebee's inability to speak on himself. Optimus reminds him that Bumblebee owes his life to Ratchet's medical expertise, quoting this trope almost word for word.
