Gonna need a lot of bug spray
An ancient breed of Decepticons, known as Insecticons, appear on Earth, wreaking havoc.This episode contains examples of:
- Aliens in Cardiff: Most of the episode takes place in Indonesia.
- Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Just after Megatron has recruited the Insecticons, they betray him to eat the stolen energy reserves. Infuriated, Megatron sends all present Decepticons after them, chasing them away as the episode ends.
- Foreshadowing: After Prime calls Spike a "real Autobot", Wheeljack jokes about building him a Transformer body. Guess what happens at the start of Season 2? And then again in the movie; who else but Wheeljack would have helped Spike build his exo-suit?
- Giant Robot Hands Save Lives: When Megatron throws Sideswipe, Skyfire catches him. Justified in that they're both giant robots, so this doesn't hurt Sideswipe at all.
- Instantly Proven Wrong: When Sunstreaker challenges Sideswipe's claim that he can find an alternate route to the Insecticons, Sideswipe swears that he's an excellent navigator...and leads them all to a roadblock.
- "Open!" Says Me: Sideswipe tries to break through a rock wall with his hand-drills. When that takes too long, Optimus Prime simply drives right through it, breaking it apart.
- Pun: A lot of bug puns in this episode.Skyfire: Hey! Quit buggin' me!
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Ravage flees when the Decepticons are preparing to go into the Insecticons' lair.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Skyfire disappears during the battle at the tanker and is not shown regrouping with the rest of the Autobots at the end of the episode.
