Go To

A space bridge accident sends Ratchet and Captain Fanzone to Cybertron, right as the Decepticon controlled Omega Supreme arrives.

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: For Ratchet and Captain Fanzone. Even Shockwave to some extent.
  • Continuity Nod: This isn't the first time Ratchet has used the phrase "cold and offline" when facing down Decepticons.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Sentinel Prime's broadcast is based off propaganda from the Red Scare. It also borrows from contemporary political advertising campaigns.
  • Dramatic Irony: In this continuity, Fanzone is the first human to set foot on Cybertron.
  • The End... Or Is It?: The Decepticons transwarp to Earth, and the damage done to Arcee proves to not be as severe as Perceptor thought.
  • Evil Costume Switch: Or rather, Evil Color Switch; Shockwave celebrates his official reunion with Megaton by switching to his G1 colors.
  • Fantastic Racism: Sentinel has apparently spread his anti-organic bias across Cybertron, as the Autobots are shown either fleeing from Fanzone or trying to step on him.
  • Foreshadowing: Megatron going out of his way to praise Shockwave as his "most loyal servant" in front of Lugnut. It's all part of his plan for the finale.
  • Gilligan Cut: Megatron assures Starscream that the Autobots wouldn't dare fire on Omega Supreme. Cut to Sentinel declaring that they should fire on him.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Lugnut is visibly shaking with great jealousy over Megatron declaring Shockwave his most loyal servant. Starscream eagerly watches Lugnut's meltdown.
  • The Heavy: Shockwave is the Big Bad of this episode, but in the grand scheme of things he's merely The Dragon to Megatron.
  • Hero Killer: Fortunately averted, as Ratchet manages to stop Shockwave from killing Ultra Magnus by firing an EMP at the charged-up Magnus Hammer.
  • Humans Are Insects: The Cybertronians try to step on Fanzone like a bug.
  • I Want Them Alive!: Sentinel gives this order regarding Ratchet and Fanzone, though he doesn't care in how many pieces.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: The Autobots on Cybertron are so horrified and disgusted to see an organic being on their planet that they refer to Fanzone as "it".
  • Ignored Expert: Ratchet's advice and warnings about Omega Supreme are repeatedly ignored by Sentinel. Averted by Alpha Trion and Perceptor, who explicitly points out that Ratchet's experience with Omega Supreme is invaluable at a time like this.
  • Papa Wolf: Ratchet is fiercely protective of Omega Supreme, to the point where he gives Sentinel an Implied Death Threat should the latter even consider harming him.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Alpha Trion and Perceptor are the only Cybertronian leadership figures to not buy into Sentinel's xenophoblic propaganda nor his extremely aggressive methods.
  • Robbing the Dead: A variation; Shockwave took Ultra Magnus's hammer from him while the latter was initially crippled and intended to use said hammer to finish off his old boss once and for all.
    Ratchet: That's Ultra Magnus' hammer!
Shockwave: Considering his current condition... I don't think he'll mind.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Jazz finally gets tired of Sentinel's antics and more or less defects to Team Prime.
  • Shout-Out: Shockwave's slow delivery of "I'm afraid I can't let you do that" calls to mind the supercomputer HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Bonus points goes to having both of them being a Cyber Cyclops.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Megatron says that no Autobot would be foolish enough to fire on Omega Supreme and risk wiping out the planet. Alas, he didn't count on Sentinel's stupidity.
    • Ratchet and Fanzone also take some tunnels that were supposed to be uninhabited. What they didn't count on was that someone else was now living in them.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Alpha Trion delivers a scathing one to Sentinel near the end of the episode, saying that if it was up to him alone, Sentinel wouldn't be Magnus a second longer.
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • Fanzone re Jazz's appearance on Earth.
    • In the sewer, Ratchet over encountering Shockwave.
  • Title Drop: As expected from the episode's name being based on Fanzone's Catchphrase, he says it word for word as he looks at Sentinel and adds, "Certain machines more than others."
  • Tranquil Fury: Lugnut is clearly not happy to have his position as "Megatron's most loyal servant" usurped by Shockwave, as Starscream notes to his amusement.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: The Autobot council, Alpha Trion in particular, repeatedly calls out Sentinel's actions in this episode.
  • Wham Line: In the final seconds of the episode, Arcee suddenly whispers, "Ratchet". Keep in mind that she's supposed to be a braindead amnesiac.
  • Who Would Be Stupid Enough?: Megatron says this in regards to being attacked while aboard Omega Supreme, as the Autobots would never open fire on their own greatest weapon. Gilligan Cut to Sentinel motioning to do exactly that.
