Recap / Tracker S1E17 "A Made Guy"

Go To

Cole captures a fugitive, who is in the body of a mobster. He's knocked out by another mobster and is confronted by the boss Tommy Fusco, who wants to know who he works for, before asking if he's one of Zin's men. Cole flees using hyperspeed but decides he wants to learn more about what Zin is doing. Since his face is already known, he has Mel and Nestov help him create the persona of an Italian mobster, copying the appearance of an obscure mobster from the 30s. Fusco is suspicious, but Nestov manages to sell his story. Fusco's right-hand man Jimmy, though, still finds something odd about "Tony". One of his men spots Cole talking to Vic at Mel's bar (Mel tells Vic that Tony and Cole are working on a film project involving the mob). Fusco has Vic's car rigged to explode but wants "Tony" to push the button to prove his loyalty. Cole uses hyperspeed to disable the bomb, then pushes the button. Fusco is upset about the bomb not exploding but satisfied with "Tony". Fusco announces a sitdown with Zin, but Jimmy takes "Tony" to an office and starts to interrogate him to figure out who he really is. Cole escapes and goes to the meeting. Except Zin has no intention of showing up himself, sending three Desserians to inform Fusco that Zin is taking another of his construction sites and pulling guns on him. Just then, Vic bursts in with a SWAT team and arrests Fusco and his gang, while the fugitives use their abilities to disappear. Cole sneaks into one of Zin's construction sites and learns that they're digging straight down for some reason. He also determines that all of Zin's known sites are making a rough circle with Mel's bar in the middle.

  • Asshole Victim: Unlike most humans taken (and killed) by the fugitives, Rotek's host was a mobster, guilty of many violent crimes.
  • If You're So Evil, Eat This Kitten!: Fusco wants Cole to blow up Vic's car to prove his loyalty. Cole uses hyperspeed to disable the bomb before pushing the button to no effect. Fusco is upset about Vic but is pleased that "Tony" pushed the button.
  • The Mafia: Cole has to infiltrate Tommy Fusco's gang in order to find out what Zin is up to. Meanwhile, Vic is investigating the gang and is getting ready to arrest them all.
  • Pretty Fly for a White Guy: Cole asks Nestov to make him look like a gangster. Nestov mishears and assumes he means "gangsta", so he dresses him up in bling and teaches him street slang. When Mel points out the difference, Nestov is horrified, pointing out that if Cole walked into a restaurant in Little Italy dressed like that, he'd get shot in a second.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Cole takes on the appearance of an Italian mobster from Kansas City named Tony to infiltrate Tommy Fusco's gang.
  • Wham Shot: Cole maps out all of Zin's construction sites and realizes they're circling Mel's bar.
