30F - Workshop Battle: The Summoning

    Season 2: Ch. 91 (Chapter 170)

The second stage of the Growth Tournament continues as Rak, Ehwa and Vespa square off against Beta to keep him from reaching the Calling Center. The watching hosts, Io and Punk, take notice that their escaped Acorn Workshop experiment has finally reappeared. During the battle, one of Beta's eyes turns black signaling the moment that he's decided to get more serious at killing Viole's friends. However, he suddenly receives word from gambler Devil Bon that Viole has escaped the Thorn room he was trapped in, and has stolen away the weapon. Devil Bon also confirms that Viole's friends are indeed trying to summon the Slayer-Candidate back to them, which enrages Beta since he wants Viole to live in despair. Beta grows a pair of wings with his body's Living Ignition Weapon, and flies off towards the Calling Center as quickly as he can to stop Wangnan from performing the summon.

Meanwhile at the Thorn's mountain, Viole reunites with Nobic and Horyang, and is surprised to see them here, which Nobic informs him that Yuto showed them away. Nobic notices the wrapped up Thorn hovering over Viole's shoulder, which "Yuto" then appears before them as Hwaryun claiming that very few people actually know about the power that the Thorn is truly capable of. Hwaryun explains how her faction within FUG knew about Karaka's plan to melt Viole into a weapon, which she swapped out with Yuto long before the Workshop Battle even began. She also reveals that her job to help Viole out had a certain condition that would make sure that the Bowl would succeed in storing the Thorn within Viole. Seeing the Thorn floating above Viole's shoulder now under his control, Hwaryun confirms that it turned out to be a success. She now believes that Viole has the power to be her god, but Viole still refuses to be seen as such.

Knowing where Viole wants to return to, Hwaryun informs Viole that his friends are preparing to summon him back at the Growth Tournament's Calling Center. However, she warns the Slayer-Candidate that this stunt has caused Reflejo's powerful Team FUG, and Beta, to move against him, and asks if he wants to go back since it would put his friends in danger. Viole answers that he wants to go since his friends is the place where he belongs.

    Season 2: Ch. 92 (Chapter 171)

At the Growth Tournament, Wangnan arrives outside the Calling Center as the Akraptor in hiding informs Khun that he spotted FUG gambler Miya entering it. Khun is left wondering who Yuto is since he's gotten this far relying on the FUG member's information as he orders for Wangnan to turn off all his devices so that he wouldn't be traced. Seeing Wangnan confused about it, Khun asks that he just put his trust in him for now as Wangnan starts running again to perform the Bam summoning.

Returning to the Thorn mountain, the Viole, Hwaryun, Horyang, and Nobic group begin their escape since the goal is just to make sure that Viole isn't captured again before his summon. Outside the Thorn room, they're greeted by Ron Mei and Baragav of the Mad Dog team trying to stop them. Baragav sends his shadow wolves at the group, which they have to fight through. In addition, three Level 72 Workshop patrols appear to block their exit. Viole attacks them, but he unintentionally uses a bit of the Thorn's power to destroy all three at once, which surprises Ron and Baragav.

Ron enters the fight herself before Viole could gain complete control of the Thorn, but has her efforts blocked by Hwaryun, who orders Viole to keep running. Viole manages to easily break through Ron's Lighthouse field using his Blue Oar transport ability as he leaves Hwaryun, Horyang, and Nobic to fight Ron and Baragav. Ron isn't worried since Reflejo destroyed the abandoned summoning well that Viole is trying to escape to, but Hwaryun thinks of her as a foolish one seeing that Ron doesn't know about another summoning well that exists within the mountain.

On Wangnan's side, he's no longer making his way to the Calling Center, but is instead heading for the tournament's Item Store by order of Yuto (Hwaryun). The plan Hwaryun came up with is that Viole can now be summoned as an item since the Thorn Ignition Weapon is now within him. Viole arrives at the mountain's item summoning well that brought the Thorn into the mountain originally, and gives the Item Store's coordinates to the navigator robot. On a monitor, Viole's greeted by Wangnan, who has reached the Pond of Calling within the Growth Tournament's Item Store, which they're both happy to finally see one another again. Meanwhile, Hwaryun, Horyang and Nobic escape Ron and Baragav by jumping down into a dark chasm hanging onto a spear string thrown by Nobic. The three of them reach a mountain exit as they leave excited knowing that their rescue operation was a success.

From the mountain's item summoning well, Viole is now connected to Wangnan at the Growth Tournament's Item Store. Through the communication monitor, Wangnan explains to Viole how he managed to get this far relying on Yuto's information as Khun pops up stating that it's good to see Bam again while hoping that the latter doesn't run away again, which Bam says he won't. Khun says to wait a bit longer for them to finish gathering points for the summon, but it's at this point that Beta appears at the Item Store, and stabs Wangnan through the chest from behind.

    Season 2: Ch. 93 (Chapter 172)

At the Thorn's mountain, Ron is seen talking with Reflejo over her Lighthouse. She informs Reflejo that Hwaryun's rescue group committed suicide much to Reflejo's annoyance having to put up with Ron's stupidity at believing that a Guide that knows all the Tower paths would just kill herself. He then gets word from FUG gambler Devil Bon that Viole's friends are trying to summon the Slayer-Candidate to the Growth Tournament's Item Store.

Back in the Growth Tournament, Vespa carries Rak, Ehwa, and Lauroe towards Quaetro's location, which he's seen having already defeated FUG gambler Miya's red-faced teammate. Quaetro then informs the rest of the group that he saw Beta head towards the Item Store. Confused as to why Beta went for the Item Store over the Calling Center, Shibisu splits the group up with himself, Vespa and Quaetro going for the Calling Center to check if Khun is there while Rak, Ehwa and Lauroe head for the Item Store to chase after Beta.

Back to the Item Store, Wangnan falls to the ground, and begins to bleed out due to being stabbed by Beta. Khun questions how Beta is a part of the tournament, but Beta informs him that he's indeed a participant, and goes for the kill on Wangnan while announcing his goal once more to make Viole suffer despair. However, his effort is stalled by a spear suddenly being thrown at him, which forces Beta to dodge. The spear came from the Item Store's entrance, which Rak is seen with Lauroe having used the latter's powerful shinsu to carry them as fast as possible to the Item Store. Rak kicks Lauroe awake to deal with Beta. Once Lauroe's awake, he senses something off within Beta's body. Lauroe questions Beta what it was that the latter swallowed, which shocks Beta that someone can sense the Medina parasite.

At the Calling Center, Akraptor joins the Shibisu, Quaetro, and Vespa group, who informs them that Khun isn't here yet. They head inside the Calling Center to deal with Miya, but are shocked to see her no longer there. Switching over to Reflejo, it's confirmed that he had ordered for Miya to forfeit the match so that Viole's friends wouldn't be able to get enough points to perform the Item Shop summon. Reflejo also gets word that he received a message from Cassano about something.

Lauroe stands opposite Beta, and informs the group that he can sense within Beta's body a Medina parasite, which leaves Devil Bon worried that their plan's been found out. Using his shinsu control, Lauroe tortures the parasite within Beta to go nuts, which Beta ends up spitting it out, unable to handle the parasite going crazy. Khun orders Rak to go for the Medina parasite since it's the true Vanguard Regular that's allowing Beta to fight in the tournament, but Rak's too slow as Beta manages to obtain it again. Beta prepares to eat the parasite once more knowing that he has to better protect it, but he's stopped at the last second by the arrival of Ehwa, who burns the parasite with her fire-shinsu.

With the parasite gone, Beta can no longer fight in the tournament, and Team Khun gets the last needed points by defeating Devil Bon's Vanguard Medina parasite. Beta can now only stand by, and watch as Wangnan uses his last bit of strength to get up to perform the summoning. Finding the effort unbelievable since he aimed for Wangnan's heart, Beta hears the injured Wangnan call for Jue Viole Grace's summon at the Item Store's Pond of Calling. The five-minute loading symbol for Viole's summon begins, which leaves Beta stunned in disbelief.

    Season 2: Ch. 94 (Chapter 173)

During the brief moment that Beta's distracted by the Item Store's summon announcement, Rak hurries over to grab Wangnan and get him to safety. The result is Team Khun standing by within the Item Store ready to hold their ground for just five more minutes until Viole is summoned to them. Meanwhile, Io and Punk continue to provide commentary for the Growth Tournament regarding Team Khun's current fight with the unknown participant.

Io whispers over the radio for the Workshop guards to move in, and secure Beta since the audience is still buying that this is all part of the tournament. Punk also informs Io of the craziness going on aboard the Archimedes, which leaves the latter host confused. Shibisu overhears the host's commentary, and realizes that Team Khun is currently engaged in battle against Beta at the Item Store. He orders Vespa to stay at the Calling Center to summon Endorsi while Quaetro, Akraptor, and Shibisu's Observer head for the Item Store.

At the Item Store, Beta goes against the tournament rules, and attacks Team Khun in an attempt to finish off Vanguard Wangnan to stop the summon, but his efforts are blocked by Lauroe's shinsu shield. Lauroe informs the group that Beta isn't human, and had actually been turned into a monster by Workshop where they seem to have put many things into his body. One such weapon being the Dionysos Ignition Weapon, which Beta activates to attack Team Khun with two giant yellow legs. Utilizing their abilities, Team Khun and Lauroe manage to stop the Dionysos legs before they destroy the Pond of Calling. However, Beta next brings out his trump card, which is an Ignition Weapon demon known as Phobos.

With three minutes still remaining on Viole's summon, Beta prepares to blow up the Item Store with the Phobos demon. However, he's stalled when Researcher Sophia arrives with the Workshop guards to try to convince Beta to return to the Acorn Workshop. Beta rejects it since Workshop turned him into a monster weapon through brutal experiments, and was told by Emily that he was made for the sake of revenge. Seeing Viole as his reason for revenge as to why the Living Ignition Weapons experiments exist, Beta prepares once more to blow up the Item Store using Phobos. With time running out fast, Khun looks through his Lighthouse information for anything he could use to buy time, which he ends up seeing that Miya's team had already dropped out of the Workshop Battle.

Given that Team Khun defeated Devil Bon's team just recently, Khun realizes that it's just his and Shibisu's teams left remaining in the Growth Tournament, and comes up with a plan. Khun calls up Shibisu, and orders for the latter's team to drop out of the Growth Tournament. Despite Shibisu's confusion, Khun quickly explains that the loading gimmick for teammate summoning will become instant once the Growth Tournament ends. If Shibisu drops out now, Team Khun will be declared the winner of the tournament, and Viole's loading timer will be gone. Shibisu agrees to dropping out, but it's at that exact moment that Beta blows up the Item Store with the Phobos demon. Amongst the ruins of the Item Store, a beam of light appears at the location of the store's Pond of Calling. Standing before Beta, Viole has successfully been summoned to Team Khun's side.

Long Summary

    Beta's Deduction

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_01.jpg
Sophia and the Workshop hosts surprised to see Beta in the tournament

Continuing the second stage of the Growth Tournament, Rak, Ehwa and Vespa are currently seen standing opposite their enemy, Beta. Io and Punk provide their commentary to the audience that the tournament has gotten interesting due to the arrival of the new participant that's appeared out of nowhere. However, the hosts think to themselves what happened back at the Acorn Workshop since it was believed that Beta had already been disposed of. Researcher Sophia is seen watching the match from the Acorn Workshop, and says Beta's name worrying about his well-being.

Beta gives off a laugh having caught on to what Viole's friends are planning, and states that only in their dreams will he allow them to summon Viole to their side. Rak questions what he's talking about, which Beta taunts them that he made sure to trap Viole in a location where it's impossible for him to escape. A place filled with despair and darkness. Beta powers up his Living Ignition Weapon as Shibisu orders for Rak to compress himself again to dodge the attack. Rak does so, and manages to evade under the shinsu blast as he hears Beta taunt them that Viole will surely hear their screams in terror from here while he kills them all.

Beta sends out another shinsu blast as Rak resizes himself, and charges at Beta. With his spear ready, Rak yells at Beeta not to be so arrogant as they will surely bring the black turtle back. Rak throws his spear towards Beta, which the latter easily deflects. Beta then yells to them if they know how many people had to be sacrificed through the Living Ignition Weapon experiments.

Rak, Ehwa, and Vespa vs. Beta

Beta points out that a number of people had to be killed to find the answer that would combine Viole with the Thorn ignition weapon. Beta points out that he had to live through watching many people die before his very eyes during every experiment, and finds it ridiculous that Viole gets to live a happy life after all this pain was done to benefit just the FUG Slayer. He yells to Rak that the only correct solution is for Viole to die, and become the weapon that everyone had been sacrificed to create.

Rak throws another spear in Beta's direction, but is shocked to see the next spear he's about to throw being dissolved by Beta's own ignition powers. Beta continues to yell at him that Viole being killed to become the Thorn weapon will soon occur, and will finally feel the same despair he's felt all these years being forced to hear the sounds of all his friends dying. He spots Ehwa powering up her fire abilities, who calls out Beta for being selfish and nasty for trying to make others feel the same way as him. Sending a blast of fire-shinsu that explodes upon Beta, Ehwa orders him not to underestimate Viole's friends. The fire completely envelops Beta as Ehwa is left wondering if her attack worked.

Beta flies off to stop Wangnan from performing Viole's summon

Unsurprisingly, Beta steps out of the flames, fixes his suit, and gives off a smile. He states to Ehwa that she doesn't know anything, and talks too much. One of Beta's eyes turns black as he then states that he's decided to kill off Viole's girl first. Before Beta could perform his next action however, he gets a call from a panicked Devil Bon.

Beta asks Devil Bon why he's interrupting him since things are just getting started, but Devil Bon answers that what he needs to know is more important. The FUG gambler informs Beta that Jue Viole Grace has escaped the Thorn room he was trapped in, which shocks Beta. Beta questions how that's possible, to which Devil Bon answers that he got the report of Viole managing to steal the Thorn, and broke out of the room on his own power. Beta complains that there's no way that's possible, but Devil Bon answers him that it's the truth, and that it's obvious at this point that Viole's friends truly are trying to summon him to their side. Despite Devil Bon informing Beta that Reflejo's Team FUG are trying to contain the situation, Beta becomes even more enraged.

Living Ignition Weapon wings appear out of Beta's back, which grabs everyone's attention. Shibisu deduces that Beta is aiming to fly away as quickly as he can to reach Wangnan at the Calling Center, and orders Rak and company to stop him. Rak and Vespa charge forward, but Beta quickly blasts off group the ground away from their location; leaving Rak, Vespa and Ehwa unable to catch up to him. Making his way to the Calling Center, an enraged Beta continues to question how Viole managed to escape from the Thorn room.

Switching to the Thorn's mountain area, Horyang and Nobic run up to Viole after the FUG Slayer had destroyed the Level 85 Workshop patrol. Viole questions how the two of them are here, to which Nobic answers that Yuto guided them to his location, which surprises Viole that Yuto, a full-fledged member of FUG, would do such a thing.

    Beginning of Viole's Escape

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_04.jpg
Nobic and Horyang question what the object is floating above Viole's shoulder

About to give a brief run-down of how they got here, Nobic notices the thorn-like object floating above Viole's right shoulder, and asks what it is. Viole answers that he's not sure himself apart from it looking like a tiny needle. Viole questions if this thing wrapped in bandages is truly that amazing, but suddenly hears a voice telling him that it is. Viole, Horyang and Nobic turn to the direction of the voice, and see Hwaryun standing at the backdoor entrance they came through.

Hwaryun explains that the Thorn being wrapped in bandages is what the weapon looks like when it's inside the Bowl, but nobody knows for sure what the Thorn will do once it finally becomes its real form. She questions if the rookie Slayer Candidate now wielding it will be able to control it well as Nobic remains confused as to who's talking to them currently. Viole remains shocked as well, finding it confusing as to why Hwaryun is here, which she puts back on her mask for a brief moment to show them that she was disguised as Yuto this entire time, which surprises all three of them.

Viole questions how long she's been hiding under a fake persona, but Hwaryun informs him that Yuto is real, and that she's just been disguised as Yuto during the Workshop Battle in order to make sure that the Thorn gets stored in Viole's Bowl.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_05.jpg
Hwaryun explains how she swapped with Yuto to make sure Viole gets the Thorn

The FUG Slayer then asks if Hwaryun knew that all of this was going to happen since the very beginning, which she answers to be the case. Hwaryun explains that her side of FUG knew about what Karaka was planning with some of the other elders, and what they were trying to pull in this Workshop Battle trying to kill Viole, and combine his soul with the Thorn to make an Irregular weapon.

Hwaryun continues her explanation that she swapped places with Yuto at a certain point, and went along with their plan waiting for the right time to finally help Viole in the Workshop Battle. She points out that it was a dangerous gamble, but the end result was a success since Viole now has the power of the Thorn. She also adds that he's now become a man since he now truly has the potential to become her god.

Viole begins to walk away stating that he still has no interest in becoming her god, but Hwaryun ignores it, and asks if Viole is now planning to go back to his friends, which catches his attention. Asking him to follow her, Hwaryun states that she will show him the way. She also informs Viole that his friends should be arriving at the Growth Tournament's Calling Center very soon to perform his summon, and has already sent them a message telling them that Viole has successfully escaped. At the side of the Growth Tournament, Wangnan is seen looking at the Calling Center in the distance being followed closely by Khun's lighthouse.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_06.jpg
Viole announces to his rescuers that he desires to return to his friends

Viole asks why Hwaryun would go to such lengths to do all this for him, to which she answers that it was part of a certain condition, which she will explain later. Nobic is seen asking Horyang if this really is the same Yuto they've been with this entire time since he's always believed that Yuto was a dude. Horyang answers that he's heard how things change drastically when it's a woman involved instead of a man.

Hwaryun gets to the main point that they're still currently in danger. Even now, the strongest enemies that Viole will ever face have begun to move in order to keep Viole from returning to his friends at all costs. Baragav is seen surrounded by weird shadows and a shadow dog is seen at his side as the two of them make their way towards Viole. Meanwhile, Beta continues to make his way towards Wangnan at the Calling Center.

Hwaryun warns Viole that returning to his friends will put them all in danger. She also warns him that even if he returns, nothing will matter if he doesn't win the Workshop Battle overall. Hwaryun asks if Viole still wishes to return despite knowing these dangers, and states that he does. Viole makes it clear that his friends are where he belongs. Nobic and Horyang watch him closely as Viole states that no matter what difficult enemy comes his way, there's people waiting for him that he also desires to be with. And that's enough reason for him to go back to where he belongs.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_07.jpg
Khun informs the team that Akraptor spotted Miya enter the Calling Center

Back to the Growth Tournament, Wangnan stands alongside Khun's lighthouse, and yells out in excitement that he managed to make it to the Calling Center. He also states in happiness that all they have to do now is summon him since they got Yuto's message that Viole has escaped the Thorn room. Khun warns him not to get overconfident until they finish the job, which Wangnan agrees to. Khun thinks to himself that it's remarkable how well things have turned out by just relying on the information given by Yuto. He even admits that it surprised him getting the message that Yuto actually managed to get Bam out. Considering that Team FUG had everything dominated at this point, Khun deduces that it's only possible that Yuto must have known all this was going to happen since the very beginning, and questions who this Yuto person is.

Getting word from Akraptor, Khun informs Wangnan that Akraptor spotted FUG gambler Miya entering the Calling Center. Khun orders Wangnan to turn off all devices from being traced so that no one will find out what they're planning regarding Bam's escape. Wangnan asks why this is necessary, to which Khun answers that the enemy can't find out what they're doing here. Despite Wangnan still being confused, Khun orders him once more to do it, and to start the Bam summon. At this point, Wangnan starts moving again towards the Calling Center.

Returning to Viole's location at the Thorn room backdoor, Hwaryun announces that it's about time for them to get out of here. She reminds Viole, Horyang and Nobic of their current plan again. They must make sure that Viole gets summoned back to his friends no matter the cost, and that they three will escape along with him.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_08.jpg
Baragav and Ron Mei arrive to stop Viole's rescue party from escaping

Hwaryun warns them that their goal isn't to fight, but to escape, which Nobic states that he got that message. Viole then gives the order to start moving as the four of them make their way for the mountain exit.

Viole, Hwaryun, Horyang and Nobic enter another area in the mountain where they're greeted by Ron Mei. With her three lighthouses active, Ron finds it disappointing that they're already leaving, and asks for them to spend more time with her. She also points out that Reflejo would like it if they stayed a little while longer as Baragav is seen nearby with many shadow dogs ready to attack. Nobic questions what the black dogs are he's currently seeing, which Hwaryun answers to be Shadow Wolves.

The group turns their attention to Hwaryun, which the navigator explains that the shadow wolves are a special technique that is a result from Baragav's blood fusion. She points out that the shadow wolves always wander around their master, Baragav, and will brutally attack anything in sight. Given that Baragav is known as the Mad Dog, this technique is what makes him specialized for killing, and warns the group not to fight him in a head-to-head match. Their only option would be to run away, but given that Baragav is partnered with the lightbearer, Ron Mei, to trap enemies for the Mad Dog in lighthouse fields, this has become a troublesome situation. Viole and company make a run for it as the shadow wolves begin to chase after them.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_09.jpg
Horyang and Nobic hold back Baragav's shadow wolves for Viole and Hwaryun

The group punches their way through any shadow wolf that comes close to them as Nobic notes that he doesn't like how Baragav is just looking down upon them from a higher location. Horyang orders him to try to ignore Baragav since their only goal at the moment is to escape here, which Nobic stubbornly has to agree with. The shadow wolves continue to charge at them as Viole provides help by blasting some of them with Bangs of shinsu, which catches Ron's attention. Ron also notices that Nobic and Horyang have stopped their retreat to hold the wolves back while Viole and Hwaryun continue to escape.

Running alongside Viole, Hwaryun asks if he remembers what she said to him before they started this escape attempt. She reminds him not to look back no matter what, and to keep running away. Hwaryun states that she will step in to hold them off if they come across more enemies, but Viole has to keep running no matter what happens in order to get summoned to his friends, or else the whole point of this escape was for nothing. Viole replies with the simple answer that he gets it. At this moment, three Level 72 Workshop patrols appear before them known as Iron Crabs. Since the three Iron Crabs are blocking their path, Viole has no choice but to fight through them.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_10.jpg
Ron attempts to block the way to keep Viole from escaping

He powers up his shinsu Bangs ready to fire, but the Thorn slightly unwraps to provide Viole with a bit of extra power, and easily destroys all three of the Level 72 patrols. The sight of the Iron Crabs getting instantly destroyed catches Baragav and Ron's attention knowing that the power came from the Thorn. Viole looks to the Thorn hovering over his shoulder, and wonders if it's starting to react to his shinsu control.

Amongst the remains of the Iron Crab patrols, Ron Mei steps forward, and states that she's lucky that it appears the Slayer Candidate doesn't know how to properly control the Thorn just yet. She claims that it would be wise of her to retrieve the Thorn before Viole controlling the Thorn gets any scarier as Baragav is seen dropping down to fight against Horyang and Nobic. Seeing the strongest E-rank Regular standing before them, Nobic is left irritated that their worst enemy is finally here. Viole calls back to Horyang and Nobic is worried about them, but Hwaryun grabs his attention again to get back to running.

Hwaryun charges at Ron Mei, which the latter blocks the navigator's attack with her lighthouse field. Viole remains standing by watching Hwaryun fight as she reminds him yet again to leave her as the only goal of the rescue is for him to escape. In the end, once the summon happens, Viole will be fighting against these guys anyway in the final match of the Workshop Battle. She orders for Viole to think about his friends trying to summon him, which finally grabs Viole's attention.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_11.jpg
Reflejo destroys the abandoned human summoning well in the mountain

Making a shinsu platform to stand on, Viole breaks through Ron's lighthouse wall to continue going on the run, which surprises the enemy lightbearer. Ron is left irritated seeing her lighthouse wall shattered so easily by the new superstar Slayer Candidate. Being attacked by Hwaryun once more, the navigator taunts her that Viole had the opportunity to cut her head off if he wasn't so weak-hearted.

Hwaryun then asks how Ron can be so relaxed about what's going on currently, which Ron questions if she really comes off like that. Ron thinks to herself that being relaxed is a given since Viole is heading for the only abandoned summoning well that's connected to Wangnan's Calling Center. Since Reflejo is at the abandoned well, and has already destroyed it, there's no way for Viole to escape now, and Reflejo will be blocking the only exit that Viole can escape through.

Hwaryun could guess by Ron's expression that Team FUG believes to have Viole cornered since Reflejo destroyed the abandoned well used for people summoning. However, she thinks to herself that Ron's a stupid one since there's another summoning well Viole is heading for that hasn't been destroyed just yet.

    The Item Store's Summoning Well

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_12_2.jpg
Wangnan and Khun's lighthouse arrive at the Item Store to summon Viole as an item

Returning to the Growth Tournament, Wangnan is seen running to a different location away from the Calling Center. Wangnan asks Khun if this is right, to which Khun answers that he's positive it's not the Calling Center that has been established to be what summons Viole, but the Item Store. Looking to his Emily terminal, Hwaryun (Yuto) had sent Khun a message that Viole can be summoned at the Item Store using the item code SS-1SSA. Wangnan then enters the front entrance of the Item Store followed closely by Khun's lighthouse.

As Viole makes his way through the mountain, he thinks back to something Hwaryun told him before they began their escape. Viole asks what Hwaryun is referring to regarding the Item Store, which Hwaryun answers that his friends aren't going to summon him at the Calling Center, but at the Item Store. As of right now, Viole is considered both a human and an item thanks to now being the host of the Thorn Ignition Weapon; meaning that Viole can be summoned as a weapon, and will use this as a means to deceive Team FUG.

Hwaryun states that the summoning well that was used to teleport the Thorn into the mountain is still here, and that Viole will be using said well to transfer over to the Growth Tournament's Item Store. She provides Viole the coordinates of the Growth Tournament's Item Store to Viole's Pocket, and asks for him to follow her directions to reach the well. She leaves off saying that Viole's friends will arrive at the Item Store by the time he gets to the item summoning well.

Returning to the present, Viole reaches the location of the item summoning well. Seeing the navigator robot floating above it, Viole enters the coordinates, F2D-426, and asks for the robot to connect to said location. The robot informs Viole that he will now be connected to the Item Store in the Growth Tournament arena. On a monitor in the item summoning well room, Viole is greeted by the sight of Wangnan's face upon it as they are both glad to see one another.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_13.jpg
Viole's party escapes having succeeded in getting Viole to the item summoning well

Returning to the battle against Ron and Baragav, Hwaryun figures that Viole has reached the item summoning well by this point. She orders for Nobic to throw that spear, which he does so by throwing a spear with a white rope attached to it to a wall on the other side of a gaping chasm. Hwaryun, Horyang and Nobic then grab onto one another as Hwaryun says her goodbye to the foolish Ron, and will see her in the final. The three of them jump off the cliff holding onto an object at the other end of the string as they drop down to another location, and disappear from sight. Ron and Baragav look down into the darkness as the former wonders if Hwaryun performed another suicide.

At the bottom of the dark chasm, Horyang asks what they should do now as Hwaryun says to start running since they're close to an exit that will get them out of the Thorn's mountain. Nobic complains that he's been doing a lot of running today, but has his spirits brightened a bit remembering how much of a fool Ron Mei truly is. The three of them are seen reaching a mountain exit as they are all left excited knowing that their rescue operation was a success.

Beta reaches the Item Store, and stabs Wangnan through his heart

At the Growth Tournament's Item Store, Viole is seen on the monitor asking Wangnan how he's here in the Workshop Battle, which Wangnan answers that Hwaryun told him a while back that he could see Viole again if he made it here. He also informs Viole that the reason he's currently here in the Item Store is because he's been following the direction that has been provided by Yuto over the Emily terminal.

Wangnan then shows Viole that Khun is also here, which shocks Viole. Khun's lighthouse floats next to Wangnan to show Viole that he's here as well, and Wangnan points out how the sight of Viole currently looks even brighter than ever before. Khun asks Bam if he's going to run away this time, to which Bam answers that he's not.

Khun states that they're about ready to perform the summoning at the Item Store, but still needs just a few more points, and will get it when they finish off Miya at the Calling Center. However, a voice is heard from behind Wangnan asking who it is that they're planning to summon. Beta then stabs Wangnan in the back with his hand, and states that he will never allow for Viole to be summoned.

Returning to the Thorn's mountain, Ron Mei talks to Reflejo over her lighthouse, and is surprised to hear from him that Viole didn't actually head to the masked Regular's location. Reflejo then asks about Hwaryun's location, which Ron answers that she committed suicide. The answer enrages Reflejo since he's told Ron multiple times that Hwaryun jumping down a whole doesn't result in suicide. He leaves off in order for Ron to chase after Hwaryun's group.

Reflejo gets word that Viole's friends are trying to summon from the Item Store

At the destroyed abandoned well in the mountain, Reflejo remains irritated at what's going on, and questions what Hwaryun is trying to do. He also hates the fact that a stupid girl like Ron Mei ended up being the partner of someone as powerful as Baragav. Reflejo thinks over the situation, and concludes that there couldn't have been anywhere else for Viole to escape to. It's at this point that Ron contacts Reflejo once more to inform him of something important that's happening at the Growth Tournament. Ron tells Reflejo that she got a message from Devil Bon that Viole's friends are trying to summon the FUG Slayer at the Item Store, which shocks Reflejo.

Meanwhile, in the Growth Tournament, Vespa is seen carrying Ran, Ehwa and Lauroe as quickly as it can to Wangnan's location at the Item Store. Getting on Vespa's nerves, Rak yells at the bee-person to speed up, or else the others are going to die, and asks why he lost contact with the blue turtle (Khun ordered Wangnan to turn off all communication earlier).

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_16.jpg
Quaetro informs Shibisu's group that he saw Beta fly towards the Item Store

The alligator then looks at Lauroe, and finds it annoying that the guy is still trying to get some sleep in the middle of a tournament. Rak questions who was stupid enough to summon this guy, but Vespa counters that it trusts Lauroe greatly. Rak's attention is then brought to many flames in the surrounding area, and sees that Quaetro has defeated the red-faced Regular.

Rak calls out to Quaetro, and asks if the crazy fire-user saw Beta, a person with huge wings, fly by recently. Happy to see the talking dinosaur again, Quaetro answers that he did see Beta go by just now, but was too quick to do anything about it. Quaetro also informs them that Beta went for the Item Store, which shocks the group.

Since only Khun knew about the Item Store plan, Shibisu is left questioning why beta chose to go for the store rather than the Calling Center like the original plan. Hatz asks what he plans to do, which Shibisu thinks to himself that deciding to go for either the Calling Center or the Item Store is just too complicated. Thinking about why Beta went after the Item Store, Shibisu deduces that there's a chance Khun and Wangnan went to the Item Store, but isn't 100% certain of it. Shibisu decides that there's only one solution. They need to split up to cover both buildings.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_17.jpg
Beta reminds Viole that he wants the FUG Slayer to feel despair

Shibisu orders Rak to take Ehwa with her, and use Lauroe's shinsu to quickly fly towards the Item Store as quickly as they can. Meanwhile, Shibisu himself will go to the Calling Center with Quaetro and Vespa to check on the area. He orders the group to hurry before Beta does something. Shibisu thinks to himself that just thinking about Beta gives him the creeps.

Returning to the Item Store, the shocked Viole and Khun call out to Wangnan after witnessing him get stabbed through the chest by Beta. Blood begins to pour out of the hole in Wangnan's chest as he falls to the floor. Lying on the ground, Wangnan starts to cough up blood as Viole calls out to him through the monitor hoping he'll continue to live. From his lighthouse, Khun complains that Beta has no right to intrude in this tournament, which Beta answers that it's fair-game since he's technically a participant of the Workshop Battle. Khun remains confused by the answer, which Beta then tells Khun to wait just a bit since he will kill him soon enough as well. Khun begins to sweat, and questions why Beta seems really off. Viole yells through the monitor asking why Beta is doing this given that all his hate is squarely on Viole, and asks why the others need to be killed.

    Discovering the Medina Parasite

Rak and Lauroe arrive at the Item Shop

Beta reminds the FUG Slayer that he wants to make Viole suffer. Despite not knowing how Viole escaped the Thorn room, Beta orders for Viole to just sit tight, and watch as his friends get killed. He asks for Viole to feel great despair, which irritates the FUG Slayer.

Looking down at the injured Wangnan, Beta states that it's time to begin the killing since the latter doesn't have much longer to live after putting him in this condition. Beta states that he will make it quick, and send his arm towards Wangnan to make the finishing blow while Viole is heard begging him to stop. Seeing that the current situation has devolved into chaos, a frustrated Khun deduces that he doesn't have any other choice but to use that. Before Khun could use his secret weapon however, a voice is heard yelling for Beta to stop as a spear is thrown in his direction. Rak being carried by Lauroe's shinsu appears at the Item Store's entrance.

Entering the Item Store, Rak is shocked to see the bloodied Wangnan struggling on the ground as Khun's lighthouse floats above them. Rak spots Beta near them and yells at the punk that he's definitely going to die. Khun questions how Rak knew about them being here, to which the alligator answers that he just followed Beta the entire way.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_19.jpg
Lauroe notices that Beta has something foreign in his body

Seeing the alligator carrying Lauroe before him, Beta finds this amusing, and questions if more soon-to-be-dead people have arrived to die to him. Dropping Lauroe on the ground, Rak kicks the sleeping Regular stating that it's time for him to get to work. A yawning Lauroe pops out of his blanket as Beta remains confused at the sight as to who this sleeping weirdo is. Lauroe takes one look at Beta, and questions what it was that he swallowed, which shocks Beta that Lauroe has already caught on about the Medina parasite that's inside of him.

Meanwhile, Akraptor spots the Shibisu, Quaetro and Vespa group making their way to the Calling Center. Akraptor joins up with the three of them, and finds it surprising that they arrived earlier than he was expecting. Shibisu asks if Khun has stopped by here yet, to which Akraptor answers that he hasn't, but the plan's been established that if Shibisu arrives first, it will be his job to defeat Miya to score some much needed points for the summoning. Shibisu remains confused as to why Khun would hand the points over to Team Shibisu when it's Team Khun that's trying to summon Viole, but Akraptor answers that even he doesn't understand why. Getting their attention back on the tournament, Shibisu orders for the group to head inside the Calling Center, which the group does.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_20.jpg
Reflejo orders Miya's team to drop out so there won't be enough points to summon

Upon entering however, Team Shibisu look into the room only to find that Miya isn't here, which leaves everyone confused as to what's going on. Switching to the Thorn's mountain, Reflejo receives the news on his Pocket that it was a success calling for Miya to withdraw from the game so that Team Khun won't be able to get enough points to perform the summon. Reflejo gives his gratitude to the person on the Pocket for a job well done, and states that it's now impossible for Team Khun to receive enough points to perform the Item Store summoning. The masked Regular gives the order that they must find Viole no matter what so that he doesn't escape from them. The person on the Pocket accepts the order, but also states to Reflejo that there's a message to him from Cassano.

Returning to the Item Store, Khun remains confused about Lauroe's statement that Beta swallowed something. Lauroe then states that his assuption is correct that Beta isn't actually one, which confuses Khun even further. Able to sense a weird looking creature, Lauroe explains that there's something within Beta's brain that's completely different from the rest of his body. He believes it to be some form of a parasite that has the power to control Beta, but because of the way Beta's been experimented on, the parasite can't control him anyway.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_21.jpg
Lauroe forces Beta to throw up Devil Bon's Vanguard, the Medina parasite

Khun asks if Lauroe can get the parasite out, but Lauroe gives off a yawn, and asks why he should do it since this seems like it would be too troublesome for him. Lauroe states that he won't do it, but Khun orders Rak to bite him which the alligator does. Lauroe begins to panic that the alligator is going to eat through his precious blanket, and yells to Khun that he will do his part to get the parasite out of Beta. Beta finds the show amusing, and calls Lauroe an idiot.

Seeing Lauroe finally ready to fight, Beta asks how he's going to get the parasite out of him. Lauroe answers the monster known as Beta that it's simple, he will just shake up the thing in his head using shinsu control. Beta begins to feel pain in his head as Lauroe explains that if he tortures the parasite with his shinsu, it will go on a rampage to the point of Beta no longer being able to handle it. Just as Lauroe guessed, Beta throws up, and the parasite is now seen lying on the floor in Beta's throw-up. Beta looks at the floor in shock as Devil Bon begins to worry that their plan has been discovered. Khun realizes quickly that the parasite is the real Vanguard, and orders Rak to kill it quickly.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_22.jpg
Ehwa destroys the Medina with her fire-shinsu before Beta could eat it again

Rak and Beta both go for the Parasite, but Beta beats him to it as Rak falls to the floor. Beta laughs at Rak's failed effort, and thanks everyone for telling him his weakness regarding the parasite going nuts in his body. He states to everyone that he will be sure to keep the parasite more secure in his body this time around so that it doesn't go nuts again, but it's at this point that the parasite explodes in Beta's hand by someone's fire-shinsu. Realizing that it was done by a fire ability, everyone looks in the direction of Ehwa, who finally arrived at the Item Store entrance.

Team Khun receives 500,000 additional points for defeating the enemy parasite Vanguard as everyone screams in excitement that Ehwa got them the needed points to perform the summon. In addition, Beta is no longer able to attack them since he's not considered a part of the tournament anymore with the parasite Vanguard gone. Relying on the little strength he has left, the injured Wangnan gets up, and is glad to hear that everyone was able to succeed to get them this far. Beta remains shocked seeing Wangnan still able to move since he made sure to stab him through the heart.

    Countdown to Summon Viole

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_23.jpg
Getting enough points after defeating the Medina, Wangnan starts Viole's summon

Giving off a weak laugh, Wangnan slowly makes his way to the Item Store's Pond of Calling, and points out that all the training he did before the Workshop Battle to bring back Viole is finally paying off. Wangnan yells at the pond to summon Jue Viole Grace as the loading symbol for the FUG Slayer appears in the Item Store. The Item Store's robot navigator announces that the summoning of Jue Viole Grace has begun, and will take five minutes to complete. Seeing the summoning begin leaves Beta stunned in disbelief.

Rak resizes himself to normal size again, and grabs Wangnan away from the Pond of Calling to keep him away from Beta. The alligator asks how Wangnan's holding up, to which the injured Regular answers that he doesn't plan on dying after making it this far to reunite with Viole. Wangnan states to the group that they just need to hold on for five more minutes.

Io and Punk continue to give their commentary of the match where they announce that Miya's team has withdrawn from the Workshop Battle for personal reasons. The hosts also state that Team Khun pulled off a great move thanks to Ehwa managing to defeat Team Devil Bon's Vanguard, and are now all fighting desperately against the unidentified enemy (Beta) that's appeared in the Growth Tournament.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_24.jpg
Shibisu orders Vespa to summon Endorsi while the rest go for the Item Store

Leaving off saying that this game is getting even more exciting, Io whispers over a radio that they've been managing to fool the audience until now making this look like a special event, but orders once more for the Workshop guards to move in and recapture Beta. Punk then informs Io that something crazy just happened, which leaves Io confused.

Switching over to Shibisu and Hatz in their flying tournament vehicle, they are seen listening to the commentary that Io and Punk just announced. Akraptor, Vespa, and Quaetro, who are still in the Calling Center, heard the hosts as well, and find it confusing as to what Io and Punk meant by Team Khun currently being engaged in a fight against an unknown enemy.

Shibisu quickly puts together the situation, and realizes that Team Khun and Beta are currently fighting at the Item Store. Shibisu gives the order for Vespa to stay at the Calling Center to summon Endorsi, which Vespa accepts. In the meantime, Akraptor and Quaetro, followed closely by Shibisu's lighthouse, will begin to make their way to the Item Store. The three of them exit the Calling Center as they begin to make their journey to said store.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_25.jpg
Beta uses Dionysos ignition

At the Item Store, Beta becomes even more pissed off, and orders for Team Khun to hand over Wangnan since stopping the Vanguard will stop Viole's summon. In return, Rak taunts Beta to come and get Wangnan himself if he wants him. Powering up his Living Ignition Weapon, Beta questions if Rak truly believes that he won't be able to pull that off. Going against the rules of the tournament, Beta fires several blasts of shinsu towards everyone. Khun gives the order for the group to hang on to Lauroe, which Ehwa, and Rak carrying the injured Wangnan, choose to do.

Lauroe makes a a bubble shield of shinsu that protects all four of them within it from Beta's shinsu beams as Lauroe begins to get annoyed. He complains to Khun that this was why he warned them all that dealing with a monster, such as Beta, is going to provide them a lot of trouble. Khun questions why Lauroe seems to always call Beta a monster, which Lauroe answers that it's because Beta is no longer a human, and is using shinsu that's not his own power. Lauroe further explains that since this is an experiment of Workshop they're dealing with, Beta most likely had something put into his body that made him into this monster they're witnessing. One of Beta's eyes turns black as he begins to rely on his Dionysos ignition abilities against Team Khun.

Two giant yellow legs appear above Beta, which shocks the group. Khun orders for the team to get away from it, but quickly changes to another order to stop the yellow legs since Beta could use them to destroy the Item Store, which would stop Viole's summoning. Rak manages to block one of the giant yellow feet, but the second aims to step on the Pond of Calling to destroy it.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_26.jpg
Beta uses Phobos ignition

Despite finding this to be annoying, Lauroe steps in to use a Eurasia technique, the Cry of Piercing Water skill, to cut through the second leg before it reaches the pond. Ehwa then provides Rak help by destroying the leg he's blocking with her fire-shinsu as the two damaged legs return to Beta. Khun wonders if their defense worked, but Lauroe warns them that it's just getting started as the yellow legs above Beta begin to morph into something else.

Beta admits that he's amazed Team Khun is forcing him to use his trump card. The legs finish morphing as Beta's Dionysos ignition legs morph into a different Living Ignition Weapon known as Phobos. To Team Khun, Phobos appears behind Beta as a green demon with a face that's just a giant black hole. Rak and Ehwa are left stunned by the sight as Lauroe thinks to himself that Workshop is a group of bastards for experimenting this far on Beta. With the Phobos ignition weapon Beta jumps into the air, and claims that this is the end of them. Giant blasts of shinsu begin to form at the hands of the Phobos, which Beta claims that he plans to blow everything up in this Item Store to make sure that Viole's friends die, and the summoning doesn't finish.

Khun gives the order for Team Khun to stop them by any means, or else the Item Store will definitely be destroyed. Lauroe warns them that without a lighthouse user for immobilization fields, it will be difficult. Three minutes for Viole's summon remain as Lauroe informs them of three choices: protect themselves, protect the Pond of Calling, or give up on the Workshop Battle. Beta gives his last regard to Viole on the monitor that he's about to watch his friends be killed by him.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_27.jpg
Beta about to destroy the Item Store

Beta then asks Viole to wait for him so that he can kill the FUG Slayer himself, which Viole could only reply by asking Beta to stop this. It's at this point however that the Workshop guards finally make their move. They enter the Item Store, but Beta also notices someone else amongst the guards, Researcher Sophia.

Sophia orders for Beta to stop this, and asks why he's been doing all this. Khun notices Sophia talking to Beta, and wonders how she's connected to all this since she looks like a researcher of Workshop. However, Khun is glad by this event changer since it's buying them a bit more time to finish the summon.

Reseracher Sophia asks once more for Beta to stop this, and return to the lab or else, but Beta orders her to shut up. He asks if Sophia has thought about the monster she created, and informs her that he's not a human anymore, but a weapon. Beta also states that she (referring to Emily) told him everything. That the reason he's become a weapon is to get revenge. Sophia calls for Beta's name, unable to believe what she's hearing as Beta announces that he will end all of this with his own power. He claims that the existence of Jue Viole Grace is the reason all of this regarding the Living Ignition Weapons started as Beta goes back to continuing to power up the Phobos to destroy the Item Store.

A frustrated Khun realizes that he needs to do something before the crazy Beta destroys the Item Store. It's at this moment that he notices on his lighthouse the information that Miya's team has dropped out of the Growth Tournament.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_28.jpg
Khun orders Shibisu to drop out of the tournament so Bam can be summoned

Since Team Khun has also defeated Devil Bon's team, Khun realizes that the only teams left are his and Team Shibisus for the final match of the tournament. Khun is annoyed as to why he didn't know about this sooner, and remembers that he shut the communication off when he and Wangnan set off towards the Item Store in secret. It's at this point that Khun comes up with a plan.

Quaetro and Akraptor are seen making their way to the Item Store followed by Shibisu's lighthouse. Khun gets in contact with Shibisu, and while the latter asks to know what's going on, the former apologizes that there's currently no time to chat. Khun gets straight to the point. He orders Team Shibisu to give up the Growth Tournament right now. Shibisu is left confused by Khun's order, which Khun quickly explains that once the Growth Tournament is over, a new rule will be implemented where team summoning can be performed without having to wait on the five-minute loading timer.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc37_29.jpg
Team Khun wins the Growth Tournament to instantly finish Viole's summon

Shibisu remains confused by the situation, but Khun states that he's currently stuck in a dangerous situation where he needs to summon Bam at this very moment. Beta's Phobos finishes powering up the shinsu blasts as Beta states to everyone that this is the end. Sophia begs him to stop as Khun orders for Shibisu to drop out of the tournament now. The shinsu blast from the Phobos occurs as the Item Store blows up from the inside.

From a distance, Shibisu's group could see the tournament's Item Store blowing up. Quaetro questions what just happened as Shibisu is left wondering in fear if he was too late to follow through with Khun's plan. Suddenly, a glowing beam of light appears out of the sky, and lands at the location of the now destroyed Item Store.

Within the ruins of the Item Store, an announcement is made that due to the end of the Growth Tournament, the loading for Jue Viole Grace no longer has the loading timer. Khun's lighthouse, Rak, Ehwa and Lauroe look in the direction of the Pond of Calling remains, and see Viole now standing before them having been successfully summoned to their side. In the background, Sophia and the Workshop guards are still seen watching everything unfold. With the Thorn ready, Viole stands prepared to fight against Beta.

Workshop Battle: The Summoning Tropes

  • Arc Villain: Reflejo's Team FUG serves as this for Viole while Beta, and the two FUG gamblers (Miya and Devil Bon), serve as this for Team Khun and Team Shibisu.
  • Cliffhanger:
    • Viole's summon is successful, and he appears at the Item Store ready to face Beta.
    • With the defeat of Devil Bon's team, as well as Miya and Shibisu's Teams dropping out, Team Khun are technically the winners of the Growth Tournament, who will then face off against Reflejo's Team FUG in the finals.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Could be seen as one for Lauroe since this is the first time he's been in a battle for quite a long time.
  • Deadly Game: Continuation of the Growth Tournament.
  • Great Escape: With his rescuers (Hwaryun, Horyang, and Nobic), Viole escapes the Thorn's mountain.
  • Shout-Out: Beta's ignition weapons are references to the Greek gods. Dionysos is the god of wine while Phobos is the god of fear.
  • Wham Shot:
    • Beta stabbing Wangnan through the chest from behind.
    • Ehwa blowing up Beta's parasite to get enough points to perform Viole's summon.
    • Wangnan successfully starting up Viole's summon despite being injured.
    • The sight of Beta's abilities, such as the Phobos demon, could be seen as such.
    • Viole is summoned to the Growth Tournament's Item Store.
