Go To

With the final four now so close to the finale, the competition gets very tense, Zoey finds out what's really been going on with Mike for the entirety of the season, Mal reveals himself to Scott, and there will be a double elimination for this episode.

Tropes:

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: In the confessional, Gwen says she thought Mike was a Nice Guy and says he seems to be going bad, but not in the cool way.
  • And That's Terrible: After Chris catches Mal jump on Gwen with a crowbar, he feels the need to clarify to us that "that guy is just spooky."
  • Armor-Piercing Response: Scott attempts to warn Zoey of danger. Mal smirks confidently, until Zoey says this.
Zoey: Thanks, Scott, but I know exactly what I'm up against... and who.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Svetlana says Mike deserves to be the main personality because he's the most patient, generous, humble, and best dancer out of them.
  • Break the Haughty: Chris is still devastated after the destruction of his home back in "You Regatta Be Kidding Me".
  • Brick Joke: Scott compares sharks to pigs, but concludes that they're actually nothing alike. However, after he gets knocked out, he once again refers to sharks as "sea pigs".
  • Call-Back:
    • Chris' behaviour is similar to when his plane was destroyed in "Awwwwww, Drumheller".
    • The challenge as a whole is one to "Search And Do Not Destroy", where they had to search for treasure.
    • The Pirate ship that Scott has to go on to get the diamond from Fang is identical to the one that Duncan and Beth started off on in "Mutiny On The Soundstage".
    • The Chris statuette that Mike/Mal has to find is the same one that The Mutant Maggots had to retrieve in "A Mine Is A Terrible Thing To Waste", having apparently gone missing again.
    • Mike is made to wonder if he or Mal is the original personality. Duncan had wondered about this back in "Suckers Punched" and expressed this concern to Zoey.
  • Caught in a Snare: Scott and Mal cooperate to capture fang. They build a snare trap with a counterweight that can be released from the crow's nest. Mal is in charge of the counterweight while Scott puts down a basket of fish as bait and calls out to get Fang to pay attention. Fang comes running, but Mal lets him take the fish because his true goal is to eliminate Scott. He yells at Scott that the setup didn't work, prompting Scott to investigate the trap and giving Mal the opportunity to catch him in it instead. Fang comes running back to use Scott as a punching bag.
  • Character Check: Attempted by Scott, after spending the whole season as a ditzy, awkward, love struck Butt-Monkey. Now that Courney's gone he hopes to go back to being the devious, self-serving schemer he was in the previous season. Unfortunately Mal had other ideas.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Mal gives both Gwen and Scott a one-liner while finishing them off,
Gwen: Oh, but be careful. This place is in the verge of collapse.
    Mal: Thanks for the tip.{Knocks over a load bearing poll}

Scott: {After being savagely beaten by Fang} Is it time for my bath, grandmama?
  • Didn't See That Coming: The final four learning that two will be eliminated this time instead of one. They had thought three contestants were going to the finale instead.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Scott's logic on how Sharks are like Pigs.
  • Dying Declaration of Hate: In the exclusive clip after Gwen and Scott's Flush of Shame results in them ending up in Niagara Falls, the former yells "I HATE YOU, CHRIS!!!" as they plummet during the fall. She does survive though.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Chris, despite forcing the contestants to do very disgusting things throughout the series, is grossed out by how Gwen used bear poop to create a painting of him, eliminating her on the spot. He also explicitly refers to Mal as just plain spooky and dangerous.
  • Exact Words: When Mal tells Zoey he's the same Mike who gave her the bracelet last season, Zoey assures Mal that she now knows who's in control. Notably, she doesn't tell him that she was reassured that he was Mike. Just that she now knows who is in control.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Mal doesn't do a very good job of convincing the others that he is the original personality, letting his ID burn rather easily.
  • Heroic BSoD: Mike starts to believe that Mal is the original and Mike is an alternate personality, after he shows his ID to his other personalities.
  • Imposter Forgot One Detail: Mal tries to trick Zoey by saying he's the same Mike who gave her a bracelet last season. As Zoey says in the confessional, Mike gave her a necklace.
  • Jerkass Ball: Manitoba Smith is noticeably more rude this episode. Even though Mal made him, he was perfectly okay with burning Mike's dreams even as he was watching and he also insulted Mike a few times despite seeming to be on good terms with him in "Evil Dread".
  • Lampshade Hanging: Manitoba Smith finally points out that they're all in a mind under Mal's control, so of course the ID can't be trusted.
  • Last of His Kind: Both Gwen and Scott are the last two members of the Villainous Vultures to be eliminated.
    • This episode also marks Gwen as the final member of the first generation Total Drama contestants to be eliminated in the series.
    • Scott is also the last member of the Toxic Rats to be booted in the series.
  • Love Makes You Dumb: Zoey discusses this when she decides to bring Mike/Mal to the finale.
  • Love Martyr: Scott is angry with Gwen for getting Courtney eliminated the previous episode to spite the fact that she was manipulating both of them.
  • Made of Iron: Gwen had a roof collapsed on her and comes out practically unharmed, the only reason it sets her back is because it destroyed the picture of Chris she needed for the challenge.
  • Make Way for the New Villains: Although Gwen was a Token Good Teammate, this episode see's Mal succeed in getting rid of what was left of the Villainous Vultures.
  • Pepper Sneeze: The treasure chests the campers have to pick from to know what their challenge will be are booby-trapped. When Gwen opens hers, a cloud of pepper is shot in her face and she sneezes.
  • Pet the Dog: Before getting flushed, Scott warns Zoey of danger. She already knows what's going on, but he didn't even have to bother trying to help someone who just eliminated him.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is a play on the Soap Opera The Bold and the Beautiful.
  • The Power of Love: Zoey says she has no choice but to pick "Mike" to go the finale, due to fear of Mike being lost forever once Mal is off the island. She then bemoans what a pain love can be sometimes.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Are you. KIDDING!? ME!?
  • Romantic Rain: Mike has a dream of kissing Zoey in the rain.
    Svetlana: So romantical!
  • Shout-Out: The result of Gwen's failed attempt at restoring the painting of Chris is a reference to the failed restoration of the Ecce Homo painting by Cecilia Giménez.
  • Talk Like a Pirate: Chris puts up a heavy pirate accent for the treasure hunt challenge.
  • Tempting Fate: Scott assumed that wrangling Fang would be easy, Fang pulls him straight through the ship.
  • This Cannot Be!: Mike over the idea of Mal being the original personality.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Gwen, as usual for this season, immediately after admitting to the camera she didn't trust "Mike" she tells him that the house they're in is on the verge of collapse then turns her back to him.
  • Volcano Lair: Mal intends on having one using the prize money. Though in this case, it's overlooking a volcano instead of being inside one.
  • Waking Non Sequitur: After being beaten up by Fang, Scott wearily asks his grandmama if it's time for his bath when Mal picks him up. With the Flush of Shame in mind, Mal answers affirmatively. Later, when Mal brings Scott back to the campsite, the still heavily dazed Scott goes for another family-oriented ramble when he tells pappy that he would've retrieved the shiny rock if only the sea-pig hadn't eaten it.
  • Wham Line: "Think fast and work even faster because two of you are going home today."
  • The Worf Effect: A turtle bites Mal, but he gives it such a terrible Death Glare that the turtle runs away in fear.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Scott observes that the diamond he's supposed to retrieve for the challenge is lodged between Fang's teeth. This being the worst case scenario, all he say about it in the confessional is "Are You KIDDING ME?!"
