While Liz begins to yearn for a baby, Jack is having some difficulties with his own mother. Meanwhile, Tracy feuds with Josh over his Tracy impression.
Tropes present in this episode:
- Bait-and-Switch: In a Psycho homage at the end of the episode, Kenneth is speaking to what we're lead to believe is his mother's skeleton. We then find out that his very-much-alive mother is on speaker phone, and mentions sending him that skeleton as a Halloween gift.
- Cannot Keep a Secret: Jenna tells the entire TGS staff about Liz's desire for kids, which ends up giving her plenty of unwanted attention from the men (and one woman).
- Chekhov's Skill: Josh's talent for impersonating Jack comes in handy, as he's able to fill in for him on a phone call with his mother.
- Fourth-Date Marriage: Cerie's about to marry a man she's only known for a couple of months, and who sounds like a raging Jerkass ("he's so funny! He does this thing where he screams at limo drivers—")
- Hilariously Abusive Childhood: From what we hear of Jack's mom, she mocks him for crying when his pet dog got run over, attempted to send him to Vietnam to "become a man" when he was twelve, and made him play the flute in front of his whole hockey team.
- My Beloved Smother: While we don't see Colleen yet, her formidable reputation is established. She calls Jack repeatedly throughout the episode, driving him to distraction.
- My Biological Clock Is Ticking: Liz becomes suddenly overwhelmed by her desire for a baby, culminating in her accidentally kidnapping the baby of one of the show's makeup artists.
- Post-Stress Overeating: Jack begins to stress eat when his mother starts to deluge him with phone calls.
- Surprise Party: Jenna is thrown a surprise birthday party at the beginning of the episode, which is promptly upstaged by Cerie's engagement, and then by a vintage car show.
- Too Kinky to Torture: When propositioning Liz, Lutz mentions that he "likes to be yelled at during sex".Liz: You're disgusting!Lutz: Mmm, yeah, that's a good start...
