"I've got nothing left to lose. That makes me the dangerous one."

The episode starts where the previous ended with Clay and Justin standing on Bryce's porch. Clay is holding a gun and Bryce casually walks towards them. Justin takes the gun from Clay and tells Bryce to go back inside.

Justin now has his turn to testify. He talks about his own backstory. He's shown to be a poor kid who was bullied mercilessly in school, until Bryce stood up for him when he didn't have to. Bryce is shown to have always been an entitled brat but has had love for Justin since they were small kids.

Justin tells the court of his short-lived romance with Hannah. We learn that Justin stayed at Hannah's house but not to hook up but for him to escape the stressful and often dangerous home he came from. Bryce saw Justin leave Hannah's house and teased him for it. Justin then showed Bryce the upskirt photo which made its way around the school. Justin is, however, clear with the court and Sonya that Bryce raped Hannah. He remarks that it doesn't matter that he was drunk at the party, Justin knew what he saw was not consensual.

Memories begin to resurface for Alex after he continues playing the shooter game. He remembers who is threatening him and the group. Montgomery de la Cruz, one of the baseball players in the school.

When the box of Polaroids are stolen from Clay's car, Alex, Zach, Clay, Justin and another baseball player, Scott lure Monty to his hideout. At the graffiti park hangout, Alex threatens Monty with a gun, knowing he was also there the night Hannah was raped and did nothing to stop it. Monty tells him that he's not afraid to die. He comes from an abusive household, much like Justin, where his dad beats him all the time. He supports and protects Bryce because baseball and being an athlete is all he has.

Alex and Clay go to Jessica's house to try and convince her to go to the police, knowing it could be their only way of bringing Bryce down. Jessica agrees, finding the courage to go through with her story. Outside, Ryan, Courtney, Justin and Zach have also arrived to show their support.

Mr. Porter has officially been fired from his position as school counsellor. He already knows this was coming and leaves a stack of files on the desk. He explains that those files contain kids who are in trouble; if they aren't helped, there will be another Hannah Baker. At the top of the pile is Tyler, who is now in trouble with the school for vandalising the fields and posting a photo of him and Cyrus on social media. It turns out Cyrus is the one who grassed on Tyler after finding out about Tyler's revenge plans and his collection of guns. When Tyler asks if they are still friends, Cyrus tells him they are but they need to not hang out until the news calms down. When Tyler finds out it was Cyrus who told on him, he confronts him in the hallway.

The ending of the episode shows what the verdict is. The jury have decided the school have committed no wrongdoing and Sonya's closing statement seemingly blames Olivia for Hannah's death. Olivia tells reporters outside of the courthouse that Hannah was not a perfect victim but she didn't deserve what happened to her. The police then show up and arrest Bryce on suspicion of sexual assault. The police then make their second arrest. It's Justin. He's arrested as an accessory to sexual assault. Jessica tries to stop them but Justin turns and tells her it will be okay.
