We are reminded of Zach's reasoning behind his position on Hannah's tapes. (He's called out for stealing the compliments out of her bag in communications class.)During his testimony, however, it's revealed that his and Hannah's friendship was much deeper. During the summer break, Zach and Hannah had a proper relationship. After the compliment incident, Zach apologises to Hannah and the pair begin getting closer. They bond over the holidays that Zach's father passed away, not needing to worry about Bryce or anyone else's judgements. Hannah asks Zach if he'd like to be her first as she'd like to lose her virginity to someone she actually likes. Having not known about any of this, Clay is visibly distressed.
Justin finds out that Jessica wants nothing to do with him after he turns up at the school. When Clay and Justin talk, Justin tells Clay that he's slept with lots of women and gets applauded for it. Hannah sleeps with one guy and has a crush on a different one and now Clay doesn't know who Hannah is?
Meanwhile, Sheri realises where the location in the Polaroid is. She says it's the 'clubhouse', somewhere that Hannah had named in her poems. Tyler and Cyrus hack into Zach's iCloud account and find a video of Marcus seated on a couch, getting a topless lapdance.
Alex continues to struggle with his 'broken' body but an unexpected occurrence happens during a brief fight in the locker room with Zach, when Alex discovers he can get it up...
During the night, a masked person breaks into Clay's bedroom whilst he's out. Justin hides in the closet so as not to get caught and watches the person rifle around.
