Season 6, Episode 15

When Carol and Daryl both leave Alexandria, the group sets off to retrieve both of them.

  • Asshole Victim: The Saviors that ambush Carol bully her. When she kills them all, nobody feels torn up about it.
  • Awaken the Sleeping Giant:
Rick: They were close to Alexandria. We didn't end it.
    Morgan: No. You started something.
  • Badass in Distress: The episode concludes with the Saviors capturing Glenn, Michonne, Rosita, and wounding Daryl.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Morgan looking for Carol, who is still missing, Glenn and Michonne being Bound and Gagged after being outnumbered by some of the Saviours, and Daryl being shot by Dwight when he and Rosita try to rescue them.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Morgan brings up the events of "Indifference" and "Inmates" (Rick exiling Carol and her return), as well as "No Sanctuary" (Carol rescuing the group from Terminus), having learned of these events through talking to the group.
    • Morgan comes clean about his saving of Owen and his confrontation with Carol, the events of which took place from "JSS" to "No Way Out".
    • Both Rick and Morgan use their "I don't take chances anymore" and "everything gets a return" lines that they previously used in the season. Rick also admits Michonne really did take the missing protein bar that she stole in "Clear" (which they discussed in "First Time Again").
  • Convenient Miscarriage: Maggie appears to be having one of these.
    • Although the "convenient" part is up for debate, as both she and Glenn want the baby.
  • Deadpan Snarker: One of the Saviors exasperatedly asks Jiro to take down Carol (who's faking hyperventilations) before she passes out.
  • Downer Ending: The episode ends with Daryl getting shot and caught by Dwight alongside Rosita, Glenn and Michonne.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Played with when Morgan points out how if he had not allowed Owen the Wolf into Alexandria, then he wouldn't have saved Denise in his Heroic Sacrifice, who would eventually save Carl's life when he was critically injured thanks to the former villain's final kind gesture. On one hand he's right, but on the other hand the circumstances surrounding the whole thing were pretty convoluted. One might as well argue Denise couldn't have saved Carl either if Carol hadn't shot the Wolf, or if the Wolf hadn't been able to kidnap her to begin with. (which only happened due to Morgan sparing him)
  • Erotic Eating: Michonne and Rick share an apple after sex.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Rick and Morgan run into an armored man carrying a spear searching for his horse. Since the stranger gets away and it's made clear that he's not a Savior or a Hilltop member, it's likely that he's from another group nearby...
    • While trying to convince Daryl to come back to Alexandria, Glenn warns, "It's gonna go wrong out here." He has no idea how right he is...
  • Friendly Tickle Torture: While in bed together, Rick gently kisses Michonne's stomach, causing her to giggle.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Rosita gives an apprehensive look at Sasha and Abraham flirting around.
  • Idiot Ball: Admittedly, Daryl and Carol pick it up. For starters, they know that the Saviors are out in the open relentlessly stalking them and still decide to take their chances going out alone without support.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Carol kills a Savior by shoving him onto one of the spikes on her car.
  • Important Haircut: Maggie has Enid cut her hair short, making it more similar to both her comicbook counterpart's, and to Glenn's...
  • Kick The Son Of A Bitch: Rick kills an injured Savior who tried to bully Carol after he refused to cooperate.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: After Daryl leaves to take vengeance on Dwight, Glenn, Michonne and Rosita head out to retrieve him; while Rick and Morgan go after Carol. Then Daryl and Rosita continue their vendetta while Glenn and Michonne head back for Alexandria, while Rick eventually decides to return as well while Morgan keeps looking for Carol.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Once again, Carol tries to look weak and afraid when confronting a Savior scout party and kills them all when they least suspect. Well, all except for one.
  • Redshirt Army: A whole scouting party of Saviors ambush Carol and end up slaughtered by her.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Daryl goes out all alone to hunt down Dwight in order to avenge Denise's senseless death. However, this causes him to turn away his friends for help even though it is highly likely that the Saviors with Dwight outnumber him. Unsurprisingly, Daryl gets ambushed.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Daryl hunts down Dwight.
  • Rule of Symbolism: As Glenn leaves Alexandria for the last time, he takes one last look at Maggie growing farther and farther away in the van's rearview mirror, as Abraham closes the gates.
  • Sole Survivor: A single Savior Carol assaulted survives the attack and is last seen following Rick and Morgan. He turns up in the next episode looking to kill Carol.
  • Stalker without a Crush: The Saviors outright state that they found Alexandria.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Carol and Daryl go outside of the safety of Alexandria completely alone despite knowing that the Saviors are out there seeking gruesome revenge. Glenn actually bring up how stupid it is to Daryl multiple times.
  • Underestimating Badassery: The Saviors assume that Carol is a pushover despite seeing her driving up in an armored car.
  • Wham Line: Jiro and the Saviors describing and naming Alexandria reveals that the Saviors now know where it is and have begun scouting it.
  • Wham Shot: The episode ends on a Cliffhanger with Dwight getting the drop on Daryl and Rosita and shooting Daryl.
