"Valhalla" is the fifth episode The Umbrella Academy's second season.

Pogo is revealed to be a chimp who was sent into space. When the launch went sideways, Grace (the scientist in charge of him), allowed Reginald to inject him with a serum.

Back in 1963, Five airs his suspicions of Lila, which Diego agrees with. Back at Elliot's, Luther reveals that he saw Dad upon arriving in the sixties, and tried to confess that he's his Kid from the Future, to which Reginald scoffed. Five declares that it's time to get the siblings back together. Vanya wakes up in bed with Sissy, but Carl comes home early and sweeps his wife and son away for the day, allowing her to meet her siblings at Elliot's. Klaus and Allison started the day with alcohol, and arrive at Elliot's place giddy. The siblings all reunite for the first time, and bicker over what causes the new apocalypse — Reginald, their new lives, both, or something else.

Lila returns to the Handler, who admits that the Commission doesn't know they're there. Luther and Diego receive an invitation from Reginald to dinner, while Klaus, Vanya, and Allison get tipsy in the salon, resolving to be honest with their close ones. Vanya attempts to get Sissy to run away with her, but Sissy can't.

Meanwhile, Lila drags Five away, and the two of them fight it out before the Handler appears. Elsewhere, one of the Swedes is blown up with a trap.

Tropes for this episode include:

  • Armoured Closet Gay: Klaus attributes Brian's terrible attitude to him as from being deeply in the closet.
  • Death Wail: As they give the remains of their brother a Viking Funeral, the formerly voiceless Swedes express their anguish by wailing loudly in the night.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: The remaining Swedes are genuinely upset by the death of their brother. This is the first time in the series they show emotion.
  • Familiar Soundtrack, Foreign Lyrics: A Swedish cover of Adele's "Hello" soundtracks the closing montage, featuring emotional turning points for the Swedish antagonists and the protagonists.
  • Home-Early Surprise: Downplayed; Vanya and Sissy are ready for a morning of lounging around, but are interrupted by Carl's car pulling into the driveway.
  • Kid from the Future: Subverted. Luther tracks down Reginald in 1961 and tries to prove that he is Reginald's son, adopted in 1989, but Reginald dismisses him (not because he doesn't believe in time travel, but because he doesn't believe he'd ever have children).
  • Ludicrous Gibs: One of the Swedes is blown up by a landmine, leaving only his foot.
  • Mickey Mousing: In the prologue, Grace gives Pogo CPR to the beat of the background music.
  • Modesty Bedsheet: Vanya and Sissy are both seen with the covers around their chests after waking up together after they had sex on the night before.
  • Montage Out: The episode closes with an emotional song playing over footage of all the characters in their current predicament.
  • Not Blood Siblings: The Luther and Allison relationship is tipsily discussed by Vanya, Klaus, and Allison. Although Allison says they are not biologically related, Klaus argues that if one has to use the word 'technically', it starts to get murky.
  • Pet the Dog: The Swedes are shown to be taking care of the many cats residing in the dead Crazy Cat Lady's house.
  • Poirot Speak: Being German, Klaus throws in a German word when noting how Vanya is "in secret love with some farm Frau".
  • "Risky Business" Dance: Allison, Klaus and Vanya do an alcohol-induced crazy dance at the parlor to Sam Cooke's "Twistin' the Night Away".
  • Stink Snub: Several people, including Reginald, take digs at how Luther smells.
  • Travel Montage: Luther's journey across the country is illustrated with a bus traveling on a map.
  • Viking Funeral: Two of the Swedes put their dead brother's foot (it was all that was left) out on a boat, and burn the boat with a flaming arrow.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Said by Ben after Klaus tells his siblings that ghosts cannot time-travel.
