Forest Whitaker: Five close friends looking for a last good time before graduating college and going their separate ways. But their light-hearted search is about to take a dark turn. For the cave they're exploring isn't an ordinary cave: it's a passageway leading directly into the Twilight Zone.

Five college students unearth an artifact that causes the sun to go out.

Tropes for this segment include:

  • Ambiguous Situation: Was the sun going out really the group's fault or not? Did Amber really die for nothing?
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: After everything's over, the group agree to never speak of the accident.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Once the sun returns, the radio reports what happened was due to a rare stellar cloud blocking it. But given that the sun returned as soon as the artifact was buried, it might've not been a coincidence.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: The group is horrified to learn that the sun going out might not been their fault, which means they may have murdered Amber for nothing.
  • The Night That Never Ends: After the group accidentally disturb the site of an ancient Aztec ritual that was supposedly to maintain the sun, they find that the world has been plunged into darkness. They eventually decide that they have no choice but to perform the ritual (which involves making a human sacrifice) themselves. At the end, the survivors learn that according to scientists, the darkness was caused because a rare stellar cloud had been blocking the sun's rays from Earth, but no one can really be sure if it was a coincidence or something more.

Forest Whitaker: The sun has returned and the grateful world is warm again. But for these four survivors, a bitter chill remains. Haunted by uncertainty they can find no peace of mind, no escape from the shadows of doubt, no light to guide them out of the murky depths of the Twilight Zone."
