HIM revives the Rowdyruff Boys, and makes them immune to the girls’ kisses.
The Boys Are Back In Town contains examples of:
- Big Sister Instinct: What made Buttercup able to fight back was seeing Butch stuff a slug down Bubbles' dress. She punches Butch so hard his tongue is brutalized.
- The Bus Came Back: This episode officially brings the Rowdyruff Boys back to the show, and this time they're here to stay.
- Darkest Hour: This is by far the closest the girls have ever come to being permanently defeated.
- "Eureka!" Moment: When HIM says, "Oh, boy", this gives him a wonderful, awful idea.
- Expository Hairstyle Change: The boys get new, longer spiked hairdos after being revived. The girls mock them for such.
- Finale Title Drop: Done by HIM near the end.
- Girls Have Cooties: The girls try this technique again, but unfortunately HIM made sure it would no longer work.
- Humiliation Conga: The Rowdyruff Boys each get one when the girls realize humiliation weakens them, starting with one major thing that would each embarrass them, from making them bite their tongue to pulling their pants down, and then treating them like babies.
- Incredible Shrinking Man: When the girls discover that threatening the boys’ masculinity shrinks them back down, they keep doing this until the boys are barely a couple of inches tall.
- Make My Monster Grow: Due to HIM giving the boys a vaccination against cooties, the girls’ kisses now have this effect instead.
- Never Recycle Your Schemes: Played with; HIM recycles another villain's scheme by recreating the Rowdyruff Boys.
- Oh, Crap!: For the girls when they have to face off against the now giant Rowdyruff Boys. The looks on their faces (with all of them being close to tears) makes it clear they know they stand no chance. And again at the end of the episode, when they realize HIM is right that their victory against the boys was a lucky coincidence and they may not be able to do so well next time.
- Titled After the Song: The episode title is derived from a single by Thin Lizzy.
- Title Drop: Him tells the girls near the end to watch their backs because "the boys are back in town", dropping the episode's title.
- Too Dumb to Live: The girls discover that when they kiss the boys, they grow a bit, so what do they do? Why, they keep kissing them until they grow into giants and completely thrash them!
