Recap / The Powerpuff Girls 2016 S 03 E 05 Trouble Clef

Go To

The girls appear on the TV show "Townsville Tonight" where they single out Princess Morbucks as a villain. Incensed that they think that, Morbucks creates a pop song that has the city mesmerized into liking her and turning against the girls.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Heel Realization: After watching the Powerpuff Girls call her a villain on TV, Morbucks thinks long and hard about it, and realizes that if they think she's a villain, there's only one thing to do: make a rap video about how the Powerpuffs are the real villains.
  • Humongous Mecha: Morbucks' stage turns into one. Lampshaded when the girls question whether she had planned to use it all along.
  • It's All About Me: Princess still believes everyone loves her. Curiously, she assumed that the Powerpuff Girls view her as a friend instead of a foe. She is genuinely shocked that they don't like her.
  • Loud of War: Princess attacks the girls with sonic waves from her mecha. The girls counter with Blossom making a megaphone construct and Bubbles a meowing cat. Buttercup delivers the final blow by pulling on the cat's tail, causing it to roar so loud it knocks down Princess and her robot.
  • Mic Drop: Weaponized by Morbucks, whose Humongous Mecha has a mic that doubles as a flail.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: Buttercup is angry that Morbucks' song refers to her as "the one whose name I don't know".
  • Running Gag: Every time one of Morbuck's vehicles backs up, it knocks over a trashcan from offscreen.
    • Morbucks repeatedly forgets Buttercup's name and even mentions it in song form. Buttercup is annoyed everytime she realizes it.
  • To Be Continued: Implied; a lone girl approaches Princess and says she likes her. The two are seen walking off into the city skyline at the end.
