Oscar comes home having made a date for himself and Felix with their upstairs neighbors, the Pigeon Sisters. However, Felix is reluctant, and even after convincing his roommate, Oscar has to deal with the traditional late-night poker game also scheduled for the apartment,
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- But Liquor Is Quicker: Referenced in one of Oscar's pickup lines. He tells the Pigeon Sisters that if the wine doesn't turn thoughts towards love fast enough, they also have more alcoholic drinks.
- Disgusting Public Toilet: When the exasperated Oscar chews him out for tidying the bathroom, Felix claims that Oscar's bathroom before he arrived was filthy enough to put most gas station restrooms to shame.
- Go to the Euphemism: Murray gets up in the middle of the poker game, saying that nature is calling. Speed snarks that a man his age shouldn't beat around the bush.
- Hypochondriac: Running out of patience, Oscar decides to turn up the heat so much that the others will leave. He tells Felix that he'll claim Felix needs the temperature high for some allergy and that the guys will buy it because they know Felix is a hypochondriac. Felix mutters that it makes him sick.
- I Warned You: When Oscar suggests asking the others to end the game early, Felix points out that it's been a tradition for a long time that they never end before midnight. During the game itself, Oscar tells Felix that the others will never break up the game willingly, and Felix answers that he hates to say he warned him.
- Leave the Two Lovebirds Alone: Oscar suggests that Felix clean in the kitchen, and Felix answers that the kitchen doesn't need it. Cecily correctly guesses that he meant he wants to be alone with her sister.
- Literal-Minded: Oscar asks Gwendolyn where she's been all his life. She answers (completely unsarcastically) that they lived in Brighton for eleven years and then moved to London.
- Playing Sick: Oscar decides to fake illness in hopes that the guys will go home. Unfortunately, even when he seemingly falls on the ground, Speed just declares he's out of the game and continues.
- Washy Watchy: Felix and Cecily watch the washing machine cleaning their white things during their first date.
- Worse with Context: Felix says that he's so timid the only girl he ever asked to a dance was his sister. When Oscar says he was lucky, Felix adds that she was ten years old.
