Recap / The New Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh S 1 E13a Honey For A Bunny

Go To

Unable to find a mate for it, Rabbit reluctantly decides to toss out his rabbit bookend. When the bookend ends up in Pooh's possession, Rabbit believes it to be the missing mate he'd been looking for and offered to trade Pooh five pots of honey for it. Unfortunately, he only had four, leading him to get honey from a hive with Tigger's "help".

This episode contains examples of the following tropes.

  • Boomerang Comeback: Tigger tries to knock the beehive down with a boomerang. He misses and the boomerang comes back after him and Rabbit. It then keeps trying to hit them through the episode.
  • Duck!: Tigger keeps shouting it everytime the boomerang approaches. The time in which it becomes relevant to this trope is when Rabbit is hanging from a branch with plungers on his feet.
Rabbit: I feel like... like a graceful bird.
    Tigger: Duck!
Rabbit: No, not a duck. Like a swan.
    Tigger: No! Duck!
  • End-of-Episode Silliness: Just after the touching moment where Rabbit's friends present him with the mate they made for his bookend, the episode ends with a humorous Mood Whiplash when the renegade boomerang comes back one last time and crashes into Rabbit's house.
    Rabbit: Tigger!
  • I've Heard of That — What Is It?: Rabbit asks Tigger if the ropes he used to tie plungers to his feet are double knotted. Tigger responds "Of course they are! Uh, what's a knot?" Rabbit then falls to the ground as the ties come loose.
  • Precision-Guided Boomerang: The boomerang keeps going after Tigger and Rabbit, staying in the air for what seems to be hours.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: After the failed attempt to get Rabbit up to the honey tree via strapping him to a kite tied to the back of a tricycle ridden by Tigger, this exchange happens:
    Rabbit: Any more bright ideas?
Tigger: As a matter of factual, yes.
  • Running Gag: Rabbit has to keep ducking that darn boomerang.
  • Sanity Slippage: Rabbit goes insane when he realizes that the mate to his bookend was actually the same one he took to the dump.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: After all the trouble Rabbit goes to procure the bookend from Pooh, he discovers it was his old bookend all along.
  • Watch Out for That Tree!: During Rabbit's Sanity Slippage among realizing he had been chasing after his own bookend, he falls back into his wheelbarrow that starts rolling downhill, all the while Rabbit laughs maniacally. Pooh, Piglet and Roo all run after the wheelbarrow as Pooh calls out the trope name, but before he can finish it, the inevitable Off Screen Crash is heard.
