This episode has examples of

  • Butt-Monkey: The Swedish Chef endures more slapstick than usual in this episode, courtesy of everything he tries to cook attacking him.
  • Carnivore Confusion: The Swedish Chef runs into trouble preparing the meal when the turkey, pig, cows, and even vegetables rebel against his attempts to cook them. He finally resorts to bringing out a plate of vitamin pills as the dinner.
  • Cooking Stories: Much of the episode revolves around the Chef's attempts to make the dinner.
  • Dramatic Drop: The Swedish Chef is cleaning some dishes in preparation for the dinner. When Kermit informs him the event is being catered, he drops the stack of plates down from the balcony. Distraught, the Chef begins to bawl, and then knocks over another stack of plates.
  • The Illegible: At the start of the episode, after knocking at the door of Arlo's dressing room, Scooter addresses Arlo as Arthur Godfrey. When Arlo corrects him, Scooter looks at his clipboard, then says he wishes that Kermit would learn how to type, since his handwriting's terrible.
  • Last Resort Takeout: Subverted. When the turkey, pig, cows, and even vegetables have rebelled against being cooked, Kermit suggests to the Chef that he send out for pizza. The Chef, though, winds up serving vitamin pills.
  • Running Gag: Whatever the Chef attempts to make attacks him, even the vegetables.
  • Trampled Underfoot: A stampeding herd of cows does this to Gonzo when he blows his trumpet. The same thing happens to the Chef when he announces he's going to serve roast beef.
  • Visual Pun: As the Newsman reports on a "bumper crop", he's hit by a rain of automobile bumpers.

Waldorf: Well, as they say in France, "Adíos."
Statler: No, that's Spanish.
Waldorf: I know, I don't speak French.
[Waldorf laughs as Statler does a Double Take]
