- The episode shows us what began the bitter rivalry between Mackenzie and Shay. They used to be Best Friends, forming a third-grade Girl Posse with Rachel and Mackenzie. Back then, Shay was a favorite for head cheerleader, a position every woman in her family won before her. Then on the day of cheerleading tryouts, Shay was seriously injured by a hacky-sack, and Mackenzie took the opportunity to backstab her by making her miss tryouts. Mackenzie was then made head cheerleader, making Shay the first woman in her family to never hold the title. Shay has sought revenge against Mackenzie ever since.
- The episode also reveals that Rachel was one of the popular girls in school, too, being friends with Shay, Mackenzie and Brittany. But that all went down the toilet after Brittany caught her eating a roly-poly bug and spread the word to everyone in school.
