In this strange variation on the Sick Episode, Pretorius uses Peggy's phlegm from her cold to create a giant mucus monster that infects the people of Edge City. Unfortunately Stanley leans that having a cold while wearing the Mask has unpredictable and ultimately fatal consequences.
Tropes:
- Actually Pretty Funny: The Mask after learning from his computer that he will die along with Stanley from a cold bursts out laughing seeing how ridiculous it is that out of all the things that might end him, a cold is something he did not expect. He initially doesn't take it seriously, especially after seeing the second symptom is loss of bladder control, but once that happens he starts to see how dangerous it really is.
- Big Brother Instinct: The Mask learning that Stanley will die from the cold along with him decide to save him by taking his face off to save him even if it means going back to being a lifeless object again.
- Definitely Just a Cold: Zigzagged. While Stanley does only have just a cold, to The Mask it will ultimately prove fatal if he keeps wearing it.Stanley: I can’t wear the mask until I recover from my cold. My life depends on it…
- Disney Death: The Mask reaches the final symptom of his cold, and Peggy seems to arrive too late even after giving him the cure, as he dies in her arms. And just when all seems lost…Mask: SIKE!
- Find the Cure!: In the third act, the Mask and Peggy discover that there is a cure for his cold; he has to eat Bavarian wood mites. Peggy, with the Mask’s help, is sent to Bavaria to find the cure. She’s able to get back in time to give him the cure, but just barely.
- Never My Fault: Downplayed as while it is Peggy's fault that The Mask got the cold which will kill him it is also his fault because he took Peggy's words that she can kiss him as a suggestion to kiss her when she sneeze on him which he then took out a shower to get rid of it which did not work.
- Nice Guy: The Mask cares very much about Peggy which he rescues her from Pretorius despite stopping for a drink then decide to take his face off when he saw that the cold will kill both him and Stanley so he did it to save both of them.
- Ship Tease: It is implied that Stanley has feelings for Peggy which The Mask does feel the same way though he does it in a usual manner though it's likely that he did it so that Stanley doesn't find out that he has feelings for her.Peggy: Mask, you're alive! (she starts laughing) I could kiss you.Mask: (He zooms over to her and holds her like a real gentleman) Pleasure's all mine, sugar.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The Mask usually doesn’t like taking his face off because he wants to party around and having fun but when he finds out from his computer that the cold will kill him along with Stanley he decide to take his face off which he did without hesitation knowing when something serious is going to happen to them. The Mask will take his face off to save both him and Stanley even if it means going back to being lifeless again showing just how brave he really is by facing being a lifeless object again.
- Race Against the Clock: The Mask’s cold will go through 7 symptoms before it finally kills him, so he and Peggy have to find a cure and stop Pretorius before then.
- Sequential Symptom Syndrome: The Mask's cold symptoms are actually numbered from one to seven, and serve as a sort of countdown to doom.
- Weaksauce Weakness: The Mask got sneezed on by Peggy which due to him being a gentleman he decide to wash it off with a shower but later on his wearer Stanley gets it and eventually later on while The Mask is fighting Pretorius he finds out something is wrong with him so he uses his computer that has the information about the mask of Loki and everything on it which he discovers that having a cold will kill him and Stanley but because of just how ridiculous it is that of all things a cold will kill him, he laughs it off until symptom number one happens and he takes it seriously so he takes his face off to save both him and Stanley until the cold is finally gone for good.
