Recap / The Mask S 2 E 4 The Good The Bad And The Fish Guy

Go To

Putty Thing and Fish Guy return, but when Fish Guy gets the Mask, Stanley (despite being dizzy) must convince Putty Thing to work with him before the whole city is destroyed.

Tropes:

  • Circling Birdies: Stanley's minor concussion from hitting his head on a mailbox crosses over to the Mask once he puts it back on, manifesting in the form of stars and planets circling around his head.
The Mask: Sssssspinnin'! (lightly hits himself on the head to try to snap out of it, to no avail) Oh… good one, Stanley. Just because you're dizzy doesn't mean you have to take me for a spin!
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Fish Guy goes from being a lame mutant to a real threat when he gets his fins on the mask.
  • Jerkass: Fish Guy.
  • Malicious Misnaming: The Mask frequently refers to Putty Thing and Fish Guy as "Pooty Thing" and "Fish Fry".
  • Mythology Gag: When Kellaway tries to arrest The Mask and tells him to freeze, he literally freezes, just like in the movie.
  • Threatening Shark: When Fish Guy puts on the mask and becomes Shark Dude.
  • Visible Odor: When Kellaway tries unmasking the Mask while he's disoriented, Fish Guy intervenes, his "natural scent" coming off him in waves.
  • Villainous Rescue: When the Mask is about to be unmasked by Kellaway, Fish Guy slips through the bars of his cell, landing in the Mask’s lap. His natural odor is potent enough to have a smelling salt-like effect that finally snaps the Mask out of his dizziness.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: The Mask as always changes his appearance such as a basketball player in a blue shirt, a tennis player, a plane pilot, a old lady who is a teacher, a fisher with a cap on, a ballet dancer, a hippie, a exterminator, a little boy, a policeman and Carny.
  • Wild Take: The Mask makes one with his tongue, eyes and face off as Putty Thing gets free and becomes a snake.
Mask: Whoa! Now, that's a new one.
