Recap / The Loud House S 6 E 21 Great Lakes Freakout

Go To

The Louds and Casagrandes team up for a Halloween decoration competition, but things get extra spooky when they use Lucy's spellbook and accidentally bring in a zombie apocalypse.

Tropes:

  • Call-Back: Buzz from "Haunted House Call" returns, with Lucy mentioning how she had summoned him before.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Rosa's horchata, the final version of which contains an ingredient that can instantly kill zombies.
  • Fluffy Tamer: Lana is able to tame the Street Cats of Great Lakes City, as well as a few tarantulas.
  • For Halloween, I Am Going as Myself: Enforced on Boris by Leni and Carlota, who have him trick-or-treat without a costume because he's scary as he is. As it turns out, Boris's naturally scary self is what ultimately leads the Casagrandes to win the decoration contest.
  • Here We Go Again!: In the end, Lucy has accidentally left her spellbook behind, and Carl begins to cast a spell involving witches, much to the Casagrandes' protests.
  • Kill It with Water: Make that "Kill It With Horchatas". The final version of Rosa's horchata contains an ingredient that instantly kills zombies, so the Louds and Casagrandes proceed to use squirt guns to fire the horchata on the zombies.
  • Running Gag: Rosa constantly spoonfeeding characters her horchata, and when they say how delicious it is, she says she has to add more oomph to it.
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: Lori and Bobby, as usual, to Lincoln and Ronnie Anne's chagrin. Lincoln claims that they apparently make every holiday lovey-dovey, especially Halloween.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: Lori assumes that the zombie attack was Bobby's idea, just so he could save her. He decides to go with that.
  • The Worf Effect: Carl uses his El Falcon costume's grappling hook to subdue several zombies in a montage. The one time it doesn't work, it's on a Giant Mook who can shrug off the hook, and even hijacks the mercado van for good measure.
  • Writers Cannot Do Math: Lori does three trips from Great Lakes City to Royal Woods and back before sunset. It's been established that Great Lakes City and Royal Woods are three hours away from each other, so round trips are around six hours, and the sun is only up for 12 hours in fall. Could be justified depending on how fast Lori was going, but it's still unlikely since her car is a rather old, crappy model that was once Mr. Grouse's.
