A Dark and Story Night

When the lights go out in the Loud House, the kids entertain themselves by taking turns telling parts of a story.

A Dark and Story Night

  • Author Avatar: Almost all the Louds (except Leni, Luan and Lily) introduce a character clearly based on themselves to the story.
  • Framing Device: The episode is framed by the Louds telling the story to each other during a blackout.
  • Frog Men: Lana’s character Ribbon the frog.
  • Gotta Catch Them All: The five shards of the power crystal that the heroes of the story need to find.
  • Grows on Trees: In Luan’s part of the story, the heroes find new instruments to offer to the Rock God growing on a tree.
  • Horny Vikings: The Rock God, Luna's character in the story, has a helmet with horns.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Lori’s character is a mermaid. And her boyfriend is a bear!
  • Power Crystal: Princess DeLola’s kingdom had one of these, until it was shattered. Triton and DeLola try to find the missing pieces.
  • Power Outage Plot: The plot is kicked off by a power outage that lasts almost the entire episode.
  • Princess Classic: Lola’s princess character.
  • Race Against the Clock: The robot that Lisa introduces into the story needs to find the crystal shards to recharge itself before sunrise, or she will shut down.
  • Science Fantasy: The story the Loud siblings end up telling contains elements from both science fiction and fantasy.
  • Space Western: Lincoln kicks off the shared story with introducing a space cowboy named Triton as the protagonist.
  • Squick: Invoked. Lincoln and Lola's characters in the story uncomfortably watch as Lana's character poops out the last shard they need.
  • Super-Speed: Tricksy (Lynn’s character) has this power thanks to two of the crystal shards on her shoes.
  • Toilet Humor: One of the shards in the kids' story was eaten by Lana's frog character Ribbon. They eventually get it once the shard... passes through Ribbon's body, courtesy of Lily's contribution to the story.
Lily: *after the shard drops out of Ribbon* Poo-poo!

Sand Hassles

Lucy and the Morticians' Club try to thwart plans for a school field trip to the beach.

Sand Hassles

  • Beach Episode: The first half of the episode is the Morticians' Club trying to prevent their class from going to the beach. They fail and the second half takes place at the beach.
  • Blush Sticker: Lucy gets these twice throughout the episode; first when the kids ask her to build a sand spaceship with them, then when she wins the limbo competition.
  • Characterization Marches On: Lucy didn't have the heart to defend her love of happy and colorful things in "Sleuth Or Consequences". Now she has.
  • Day in the Limelight: For Lucy and the kids in the Morticians Club.
  • Dodgy Toupee: Principal Huggins's loses his wig made from horsehair several times throughout the episode.
  • I Do Not Like Green Eggs and Ham: Lucy is initially against being at the beach, but once she actually tries some of the activities at the beach, she ends up having fun and eventually convinces the rest of the Goth kids to join in.
  • Palatial Sandcastle: Downplayed, but the sandcastle Lucy builds at the beach is big enough that a kid could enter it if it had a door.
  • Rule of Three: Fangs sneaks out to the beach three times throughout the episode. The third is with Lucy's approval.
  • Series Continuity Error: Lucy was shown to not mind the beach in the episode "In Tents Debate", if only for the possibility to witness a shark attack. Another with Haiku, who attended the 5th Grade Dance as one of Lincoln's dates, but she's now going on a 3rd grade field trip.
  • Spit Take: Cheryl does this at Principle Huggins when Haiku pops up out of nowhere.
  • Springtime for Hitler: As a last resort to stop the field trip, Lucy unleashes a horde of bats in the bus which scares the bus driver away. Unfortunately, Cheryl stands in for him and even gets the bus to the beach fast.
