Recap / The Interns S 2 E 13

Go To

Kisegach and Bykov had a conflict during their supposed-to-be-romantic trip. Kupitman presumes that Bykov had ruined it intentionally, so Kisegach, realising that her screaming on Bykov is exactly what he wants, decides to leave Bykov without his "prize", by not screaming, no matter how he would try to provoke her.

Gleb's attempt to play a prank on Varya goes badly, and, after their quarrel, Gleb accuses Varya of simply lacking the sense of humour. So, Varya decides to prove otherwise... only to realise in process that Gleb is right.

Lobanov must treat none other than Edgard Zapashny, the famous big cats tamer. Meanwhile, Levin decides to experiment on a lab rat... only for Lyuba to find that rat and decide to take it as her pet. When Levin attempts to take the rat back, Lyuba reacts negatively. While they're arguing, Lobanov learns about the rat, which scares him to no end; being accused of fearing rats, he decides to ask Zapashny for advice; when Zapashny's idea (confront his fear and show the "beast" who's the boss here) does not work, he tries to just invite Edgard here... only to learn that he fears rats, too.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Animal Lover: Lyuba decides to save the lab rat from Levin (who intended to kill it during his experiments), and even names it "Chucha". When Levin attempts to take it away, Lyuba doesn't react well. Later, Lyuba, unable to tell apart the three identical white rats, takes the other two lab rats, too.
  • As Himself: Edgard Zapashny, famous Russian big cats tamer, becomes Lobanov's patient in this episode.
  • Brick Joke: At the start of the episode, Gleb provoked Varya into agreeing to sleep with him... unaware that their dialogue was streamed via radio, live (as a part of the show about convincing your significant one to sleep with you). When she doesn't like this joke, he accuses her of lacking the sense of humour. In the end, she strikes back by provoking him into agreeing to absent from sex for two weeks... which was streamed live on radio, too, as part of another silly show. Gleb comments that he doesn't consider this to be funny, either.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: Since Bykov apparently did what he did during ill-fated business trip only to provoke Kisegach into screaming on him, Kisegach decides to not scream at him at all, no matter how hard he would try to provoke her, which, supposedly, would leave Bykov without his "prize" and, by proxy, without a reason to troll her. This backfires, since Bykov considers this to be his challenge, and only increases the efforts.
  • Loves the Sound of Screaming: Less villainous example than usually; Bykov can't enjoy his life if he can't hear Kisegach screaming on him, so he makes everything to make her angry at him. Kisegach decides to punish him, by denying him his "prize": no matter how hard he tries, she would not scream.
  • Mad Scientist: Levin talks to the lab rats about upcoming testings (which the rats are not gonna survive); he sounds rather creepy while doing so.
  • No Sense of Humor: After his quarrel with Varya over Gleb's silly prank on her, Gleb accuses Varya of lacking the sense of humour, and now she must prove otherwise. After trying to ask the other people, only to fail to laugh over anything they say, she just admits that Gleb was right. But later she realises that the problem is not in her being humourless; it just that Gleb's joke was at her expense, and was too offensive to be funny... which gives her an idea to just mirror his prank.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Lobanov, of all people, is dreadfully afraid of rats. As well as Edgard Zapashny, the big cats tamer. Both are trying to deny it (badly) by saying that it's just due to them being "too repulsive".
