The One Inspired by Roy Cohn

Roland Blum is introduced representing a client who is being tried together with Maia's client, for the murder of a journalist in the previous episode. Geoffrey Peyton is considered for the job they offered Lucca, since Lucca seems reluctant to take it, but she ends up accepting it. After he finds out she's a Rindell, Roland Blum invites Maia to his office to snort crushed pills and gives her a fentanyl lollipop.

Diane learns that her aikido sensei is anti-semitic, so she quits and takes up ax throwing instead. Blum convinces Maia to join him in his theatrics in court.

Tropes

  • Continuity Nod: Matan Brody, a prosecutor in The Good Wife, shows up in this episode.
  • Great White Hunter: Diane angrily calls the Trump boys this.
  • Mama Bear: Lucca argues that having a baby has made her even more aggressive, more of a fighter, making her even more right for the job.
  • No, Except Yes: Marissa has been investigating what happened to Kurt and why it took 48 hours between him getting shot and him being brought to a hospital. She says she doesn't want to draw conclusions about Eric Trump posting a photo of a dead giraffe in that time period, but she does think the reason they didn't bring him to a hospital right away was that they wanted to shoot a giraffe.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Title Drop: Shown rather than told: Blum is greatly inspired by Cohn.
