Recap / The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air S 3 E 17 Best Laid Plans

This episode provides examples of:

  • An Aesop: Respect your significant other's wishes.
  • Kick the Dog: Will is at his lowest here. He tricks Monique into participating in a fake wedding with him (with Jazz as the preacher) so he can get her in bed. While it's a good thing that Will didn't go through with his plan, it would have been rape by deception if he did.
  • Kick The Son Of A Bitch: Monique does this by punching Will in the face after he confesses his plan to her. Note that this was done when Will still tries to get her to have sex with him after his confession. It also helps that the crowd cheers when Monique does this.
  • No Adequate Punishment: The episode has Will trying to dupe a girl into thinking they are married in order to have sex with her. It is behaviour so bad that Uncle Phil can't think of a punishment for him..., yet.
Uncle Phil: I'm not going to punish you, Will.
Will: ...You know, that's radical, Uncle Phil, but it just might work.
Uncle Phil: I'm not going to punish you today. Maybe not even tomorrow. You see, I need to think a long, long time about just what I'm going to do to you. I don't know, if might come to me in the middle of the night, or maybe next week, or a few years from now. In the meantime, why don't you worry about it? Be afraid, Will (seizes Will by his lapel and pulls him close). Be ''very'' afraid.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Uncle Phil rightly calls Will out for his scheme.
