Distracted by the Sexy: Daisy, in a skimpy red bikini, pretends to have car trouble in order to flag down the guys transporting the slot machines so Bo and Luke can hijack them.
Early Installment Weirdness: Considerable evidence that this is the first episode, including Daisy in a very skimpy bikini (especially by late 1970s standards), Rosco's abrasiveness toward the Duke boys, cursing and swearing, bawdy and disorderly behavior more rampant at the Boar's Nest, a more fully-staffed Sheriff's Department... and the fact that this episode was filmed in Covington, Georgia. (The first five episodes were produced in Georgia.)
Enemy Mine: Rosco revealing that for 20 years, he had been an honest lawman ... and in fact, he was one of the most respected if not feared sheriffs in Georgia. However, a defeated bond issue — largely due to the Dukes successful campaign against it — turned him bitter, particularly since a large portion of his pension was lost.
Mugged for Disguise: Daisy escapes from jail by asking to use the "little girls' room", then acquiring the female guard's uniform in this manner.
Welcome Episode: "Welcome to Hazzard County," declares balladeer Waylon Jennings. And we're treated to — what else — a car chase, with scenes used in the first-season opening credits (and a few clips used for the rest of the run).
