Recap / The Dreamstone S 04 E 04 Trouble With The Miners

Go To

A big freeze hits Viltheed. Fire Rock is needed to power the Urpneys' boiler. Blob's men are sent to the mines to try and bargain with its rather imposing residents, with Rufus and Amberley getting caught in the middle.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Bittersweet Ending: For Frizz and Nug - they fail to get any Fire Rock, but were pretty nonplussed about it in the first place, and get to laugh at Urpgor's expense. To a lesser extent, the Noops escape but screw up their mission in the process and inadvertently destroy Mr Blossom's plant.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Frizz and Nug as expected, but Rufus of all people gives a lot more zoned out quips than usual.
  • Denied Food as Punishment: As punishment for meddling with their bunk, Blob orders Frizz and Nug to report straight to Urpgor without having breakfast.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: The random tornado that gusts the Noops all the way to Viltheed. Their presence would also ultimately end up destroying the Urpneys' mission in the process.
  • Dramatic Wind: So dramatic it blows the Noops all the way to the other side of the planet apparently.
  • Evil Is Petty: Played for Laughs against each other. Urpgor chews out Frizz and Nug for leaving behind a single clod of dirt after cleaning out the lair's boiler.
  • Hostage Macguffin: Blob tries to use the Noops as such, claiming Zordrak will reward the miners for having captured them.
  • Inappropriate Hunger: Rufus randomly states he's hungry as the Noops fathom where they've landed.
  • Large and in Charge: Crusher the head miner. He's so big, he manages to intimidate Blob.
  • Satchel Switcheroo: Rufus and Amberley pull this on the Urpneys. It later backfires however when Mr Blossom takes their switched bag of Fire Rock and uses it on his plant.
