Go To

Original Air Date (UK): Dec 18th, 1990

After Uprgor upgrades his throne with a rocket jet, Zordrak travels to the Land of Dreams with his Urpney army to face the Dream Maker and the Planet Dreamstone. With Rufus and Amberley's help, Zordrak is banished into space.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Always Save the Girl: Subverted. Surprisingly it is Rufus that is wary about just handing the Dreamstone over for Amberley's safety. In his defence he makes a valid point that Zordrak probably wouldn't keep his end of the deal. Eventually they just decide to screw the negotiation and beat the Urpneys into handing back Amberley.
  • Beam-O-War: Zordrak vs Planet Dreamstone.
  • Brainwashing for the Greater Good: The heroes do this to neutralise the Urpneys and the Argorribles. Unlike most other cases in the series, they intend to keep them that way.
  • Can't Live with Them, Can't Live Without Them: The only remaining soldiers left in Viltheed, Blob and his troops moan they'd appreciate anyone around to talk to, even:
Blob, Frizz and Nug *as Urpgor crash lands before them* URPGOR!
  • Captain Crash: Urpgor, leading to the above Brick Joke.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: After the enormous buildup to the huge invasion of the Land Of Dreams, the heroes neutralize the entire army in almost half a minute. Only Zordrak puts up a real fight.
    • After Blob's troops kidnap Amberley, the angry heroes quickly overpower them, but are distracted by Zordrak before they can administer a beating.
  • Damsel in Distress: The Urpneys kidnap Amberley for ransom bait for the Dreamstone (and alternately as a distraction as Zordrak arrives).
  • Disc-One Final Boss: Blob's men go in to antagonize the Noops as diversion. They are stopped easily, at which point Zordrak enters the fray.
  • Enemy Rising Behind: Reversed. As Zordrak attacks the heroes, Planet Dreamstone arrives to help. Wildit attempts to alert Zordrak to this, but Zordrak retorts, "Don't be stupid, Wut!" Then Planet Dreamstone decides to alert him to her presence by blasting him.
  • Extreme Mêlée Revenge: Blob's goons seem to be at the brunt of a family friendly one for capturing Amberley. Zordrak cuts it short however.
  • Getting Smilies Painted on Your Soul: Done to Zordrak's entire army in the climax. They are kept that way until the next episode.
  • Heel–Face Brainwashing: The heroes use magic rings to make the armies of Urpneys and Argorribles docile, and actually keep them as subordinates until the following episode. This is treated as an unambiguous Happy Ending.
  • Hostage For Macguffin: The Urpneys try to instigate one as a distraction for Zordrak, kidnapping Amberley as ransom for the Dreamstone.
  • Just Between You and Me: While holding Amberley hostage, Frizz and Nug blab about Zordrak's hovering device on his throne. Amberley remembers this later and she and Rufus take out the power supply to stop him.
  • Look What I Can Do Now!: Compared to their first bout in the flashback of The Daydream Bubble, Zordrak is able to fight Planet Dreamstone to a stalemate, with the latter requiring the Noops to sabotage him to finally gain the upper hand.
Planet Dreamstone: You evil powers have increased. It appears I must stop you...
  • Knight of Cerebus: Things get darker once Zordrak enters.
  • Never Recycle Your Schemes:
    • When the Urpneys hold Amberley ransom, Rufus suggests just going in with a fake Dreamstone like they had tried in "Blob's Incredible Plan". He gets a Death Glare from the others in response.
    • Averted for the Urpneys who go in with practically every gadget and mech they had tried in a previous episode.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: After getting humiliated by Rufus and then the Wuts in his previous spats, Zordrak manages to stay toe-to-toe with the Planet Dreamstone in their battle, only losing when the Noops unplug his throne, sending him off course.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Deconstructed brilliantly by Zordrak invading the Land of Dreams and having his biggest moment of involvement in the show, all constantly sat on his (now airborne) throne.
  • The Pawns Go First: Zordrak sends in Blob's squad first so their usual antics provide a diversion.
  • Pet the Dog: A subtle one, but Zordrak gives a hesitant salute to his minions as they prepare to take off.
  • Pity the Kidnapper: Frizz and Nug with Amberley (again) and it only worsens when the heroes come to take her back.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: Urpgor, Blob and his men disappear when Zordrak invades, only appearing for the final gag.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: The heroes react to Zordrak's attack by sending in the Planet Dreamstone.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Blob's squad are saved from a nasty beating at the last second and are the only ones left in Viltheed following the war by the ending.
  • Villain Song: "War Song of The Urpneys" blares as Zordrak's army prepares to take off and invade the Land of Dreams. Note while the theme is used excessively in the show, this is the only instance the original soundtrack version is used.
  • You Will Be Spared: After Zordrak and the Urpney army makes their entrance, the heroes grudgingly tell Blob, Frizz and Nug they'll have to postpone their beating till afterwards, to the visible relief of the three.
