Recap / The Cleveland Show S 2 E 11 How Do You Solve A Problem Like Roberta

Go To

Roberta goes through some teenage mood swings that are too much for Donna to handle. Cleveland tries to prove to Donna that he's a better parent, by fixing Roberta's problems on his own, while Donna takes a spa day.

Tropes:

  • #1 Dime: Donna has a ceramic comedy and tragedy mask, which Roberta destroys.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Roberta dumps her pussy of a boyfriend, Federline for the badass Mexican drag racer, Diego.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: Roberta makes Cleveland crumble to his knees with just two words.
Cleveland: Roberta, go to your room.
    Roberta: Fuck you.
    Cleveland: [cries]
  • "Balls" Gag: Arianna balances herself on an inflatable ball and pops it. Holt makes a joke about this.
Holt: Hey, Tim. Your wife's a ball buster.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Donna shouts this when Roberta reveals that not only is Diego a single father but he's 24.
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: Roberta goes up to eleven with her bitchiness in this episode.
  • Break-Up/Make-Up Scenario: Roberta and Federline break up and make up, by the end of the episode.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Cleveland does this to provide commentary on the tiredness of Jerry Springer references.
  • The Cameo: The cast of Glee makes a cameo in this episode, with all of the characters being voiced by their original actors.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: After a solid night of being stoned off his ass, Raymond finally says something smart, which is incredibly useful to Cleveland and Federline.
Raymond: They'll be on Coleman Boulevard. Two blocks east of here. That's where he goes racing all the time ... or tiempo.
Cleveland: Wait a minute, this entire time you had cookies and didn't offer to share them!?
  • From Bad to Worse: Roberta's description of her new boyfriend gets gradually more horrible as she goes on.
  • Generic Graffiti: A teenager spraypaints "PEMIS" and "VAGIMA" on the walls at the party.
  • Invisible Streaker: Played with. Rallo falsely believes he's invisible and runs around naked for the whole episode.
  • Manchild: Cleveland has a Cookie Monster hoodie towel.
  • Non Sequitur: Raymond annoys Cleveland with these.
Cleveland: You knew where Roberta was!?
Raymond: I know where everybody was.
    Cleveland: When?
    Raymond: Because!
Cleveland: I gotta buy a bag from that kid.
  • One Crazy Night: This ended up being the day Donna left Cleveland in charge of Roberta, when the latter threw a crazy party without her parents' permission and things got completely out of hand.
  • Too Much Information: Junior tells Cleveland an extremely obscure story about how he likes calling radio stations, pretending to be a guy dedicating a song to a girl at his school, and then imagining what it feels like to be that girl, hearing the song on the radio.
