Troll Farmer (No. 38) provides examples of:

  • Asian and Nerdy: The Troll Farmer is an Asian nerd who works with a ton of other Asian nerds in the business of spreading disinformation using computer technology.
  • Dye or Die: Liz dies her usually brown hair blonde in order to better disguise herself.
  • I Have Your Wife: Granddaughter actually. Matthias Solomon kidnaps Dembe’s granddaughter in order to force Dembe to be captured by him.
  • Impersonating an Officer: Liz and Red disguise themselves as police officers in order to better hide while trying to escape Washington.
  • No Name Given: Finally Subverted for The Director, who before this point was Only Known By His Nickname. This episode reveals that his name is Peter Kotsiopulos.
  • We Need a Distraction: Part of the Troll Farmer’s business is spreading false information in order to distract the authorities and general public. Red hires them for the purpose of providing a distraction so that he and Liz can get out of Washington. Unfortunately, the Troll Farmer and his team didn’t have the full week they needed to do their best work so Ressler quickly realized that all the sighting on the south side were a decoy.
  • Wham Line: The line when Liz climbs over the fence to the Russian Embassy. The literal meaning isn’t what makes it a Wham Line because her claim of being a Russian agent is clearly a ruse, it’s the fact that her escape plan was to turn herself over to Russian authorities.
Liz: Help! My name is Masha Rostova. I’m a Russian agent. I work for the FSB, and I’m seeking diplomatic immunity.
