- After-Action Healing Drama: The episode starts with Dembe and Liz rushing to get Red—who the Cabal just attempted to assassinate—to his emergency medical team.
- Blackmail: Liz has to personally ensure that the Director knows that Red has the blackmail file against the Cabal.
- Badass Crew: The Director's people prove to be just as skilled and badass as Reddington. They managed to overwhelm them enough that Red was only moments away from getting killed by them and was only saved by Liz forcing the Director's hand.
- Chekhov's Gun: The Fulcrum can only be viewed by using two object that were already introduced earlier in the season. The suitcase which shows up in The Kenyon Family (No. 71) and the key which shows up way back in The Front (No. 74).
- Wham Line: The Director implies that he knows who Liz's mother is.The Director: I never saw it before.//Liz: Saw what?//The Director: How much you look like your mother.
- You Have No Idea Who You're Dealing With: The Director says something like this to Liz. Rather than attempting a boastful reaction Liz, while looking a little disturbed, states that she actually does have some idea.The Director: You have no idea the enemies you just made.//Liz: I’m afraid I do.
