In a parody of homicide investigation TV shows, Daisy has apparently been stolen in a break-in, and Anais decided to use deduction to find out where she went.

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: Most of the episode is centered on Anais as she looks for her stuffed Daisy doll.
  • Did I Just Say That Out Loud?: Richard scolds Anais for saying in her Private Eye Monologue that he was dumb. She apologizes, not realizing that she was monologuing out loud.
  • Finger Gun: Anais confronts Gumball by holding him up with a finger gun. He's similarly "armed", but Anais beats him to the draw and forces him to "disarm", which he realizes after a second means pretending to take his finger off. When on the ground, Gumball begs Anais to not say "pew pew", and she fires several warning shots that actually pierce a pipe like a bullet.
  • Inner Monologue Conversation: After Anais accidentally speaks aloud and then does a proper inner monologue, Richard interrupts her with "That's more like it." It's ambiguous if he somehow heard her anyway (and liked her more favorable description) or just had some very convenient timing (and was just glad she wasn't insulting him out loud).
  • Literal-Minded: Gumball tries to go underground, by running into the basement and digging a hole.
Anais: That's not what that means!
Gumball: (sobbing) I realize that now!
  • Private Eye Monologue: Parodied and lampshaded.
  • Sherlock Scan: Anais is able to deduce almost exactly what happened by studying the debris in Gumball's bedroom and in the bathroom.
  • Shout-Out: Anais adopts a "subscription television mysteriously mumbly southern detective" persona clearly based on Rustin Cohle from True Detective.
  • Stopped Dead in Their Tracks: At one point of the episode, Anais discovers Gumball in the basement, whose course of action is promptly reduced to only giving quick answers to what Anais said or asked. Granted, he thought she was mad at him for escaping, when in reality she was convinced that he was the one trying to dispose of Daisy.
  • Sugar Causes Hyperactivity: When eating cereal, Gumball and Darwin have a sugar rush, which causes them to break Daisy.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Downplayed, as Anais had already convinced herself that Gumball was the main one responsible for the loss of her doll and not Darwin, but Darwin very easily latches onto her assumption that Gumball must have forced him to dispose of the doll against his will and uses his knowledge of where Gumball is to deter her. It works.
