Darwin is torn apart on whether he should play the new video game with Gumball or fulfill his promise with Banana Joe and mend their friendship.
Tropes:
- A Day in the Limelight: For Banana Joe.
- Description Cut: Darwin admits Banana Joe will probably be fine without him or Gumball, then we get a scene change to Joe getting crushed under a bunch of weights and stuck in a treadmill.
- Easily Forgiven: Played with in that Banana Joe clearly hasn't forgiven Gumball or Darwin for leaving him to get hurt at the gym, but when they mistakenly think he has anyway, Joe seems to give up on it.
- Exorcist Head: As Gumball is yelling at Carrie to give up a bus seat, she keeps turning her head in the same direction to face away from him.Carrie: I can do this forever. I don't have bones.
- Fake Memories: Darwin tries to get Gumball to think they promised to let Banana Joe play their game with them by using a sponge to literally brainwash him.
- I Resemble That Remark!: Gumball and Ocho argue over who is the calmer one while violently shoving each other.
- Literal Ass-Kicking: Gumball's shoving match with Ocho resulted in an Ocho-shaped indent on Gumball's butt.
- Pillow Pregnancy: While on the school bus, Gumball stuffs Darwin under his shirt to pretend he's pregnant and get a designated seat (which a school bus shouldn't have), despite being a 12-year-old boy.
- Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure: Banana Joe starts off the episode furious with Gumball and Darwin. We never find out why, though there are many possibilities suggested.Gumball: Is it because we didn't defend you when Tobias said your mom is so overripe, she's got fruit flies?
Darwin: Is it because we left you at that gas station on the way to Daisyland on your birthday, but because we were almost there, we decided to just pick you up on the way home?
Gumball: Is it because we forgot about you on that camping trip and you had to sleep under a tent of your own skin and eat a bit of yourself to survive... and you waited for three days in the woods, but then decided to walk home and got lost... and winter came and you tried to light that fire with the lighter fluid we said we left you, but it wasn't lighter fluid -- it was shampoo... and you got frostbite, and that's kinda why you have no feet? - Softer and Slower Cover: The music that plays when Gumball and Darwin reconcile is a rearranged, slowed down version of the closing theme. A more disoriented version then starts playing as Banana Joe fumbles around in the gym.
- Throwing the Distraction: Done completely wrong when Darwin pretends to finish his drink by dumping it out and then throwing something to distract the person he was trying to get away from.
- Two-Timer Date: Darwin tries to switches between playing the new game with Gumball and helping Banana Joe with his video, but Gumball immediately sees it coming and stops him.Gumball: Dude, where are you going!?
Darwin: I—uh... need to powder my nose.
Gumball: Are you gonna sneak out of the window, do something in secret for a while, and sneak back here and pretend you were never gone?
Darwin: Nooooo.
Gumball: All right then.
(later)
Gumball: I knew you'd bail on me!
