Recap / The Adventures of Superman S3 E10 "The Bully of Dry Gulch"

Go To

While on a trip, Jimmy and Lois wind up in an old west style town, where the local gunslinger takes an instant liking to Lois and an instant dislike to Jimmy.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Wimp: Jimmy. In the story the episode was based onnote , he found out the villain was a fake by conducting his own investigation and stayed calm even in the face of threats. In the episode, he doesn't do much of anything except being nervous and relies entirely on Lois and Superman. This probably occurred because the story the episode adapted came from Jimmy's series, where his characterization varied more, as opposed to the Plucky Comic Relief role he filled in the show.
  • Bullet Dancing: The villain ends up hopping to avoid his former lackeys' bullets.
  • Cowboy Episode: The episode takes place at what is explicitly a recreation of an old west town, but Lois and Jimmy act as if they think the danger from the black-hatted baddie is real.
  • Prematurely Marked Grave: Clark, Lois, and Jimmy find Jimmy's tombstone in the local boot hill, a threat from the local gunslinger who disliked him.
  • Skewed Priorities: Lois calls Clark for help after Jimmy gets in trouble with the local gunslinger. Clark appears unconcerned. Then Lois mentions that the villain has also been "making eyes" at her.
    Clark: He's what?!
  • Villainesses Want Heroes: Gender-Inverted; the Villain of the Week finds Lois attractive. She does not reciprocate, especially when he begins threatening her young coworker.
