A massive battle ensues between the Tengu Shredder, his Heralds, the Turtles and Karai's forces.

This episode provides examples of

  • Big "NO!": Leo, when he learns the Heralds are the Foot Mystics and the Turtles inadvertently helped them escape Karai.
  • Big "WHAT?!": The Tengu Shredder in response to accidentally beheading his own serpent.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The Turtles survive by displaying new dragon forms and escape with Karai, but she's badly injured. The Tengu Shredder won't be pursuing them, but he intends to embark on a plan to remake the world itself.
  • The Cavalry: Dr. Chaplain and his soldiers with their Magitek weapons. While they do turn out to be a Hope Spot mowed down by Tengu Shredder, they at least cleared out his undead minions first.
  • Continuity Nod: The Heralds mention the events of "Good Genes Part 2", and how the Turtles had a direct hand in their freedom and the Tengu Shredder's resurrection.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Karai never stood a chance against the Tengu Shredder.
    • The Shredder and his mystics are effortlessly beaten by the Turtles' dragon forms.
  • Enemy Mine: Faced with an army of demons, Karai says she and the Turtles have to work together. Raph reminds her she had a much different attitude until this point.
  • Evil Laugh: The Tengu Shredder does this a lot, particularly when announcing his plan to reshape the world.
  • Flashback: As energy starts swirling around them, the Turtles recall Kon telling them to quiet their minds to unleash their spirits.
  • Foreshadowing: The Tengu Shredder announces that he will be reshaping the world to suit himself and that New York will be his citadel.
  • Go-Go Enslavement: Implied. The Tengu Shredder begins to consider keeping Karai as a slave after stripping her down to the very form-fitting jumpsuit beneath her armor.
  • Hope Spot:
    • The first time Karai hits the Tengu Shredder with her anti-magic weapons, he's reduced him to pleading for mercy before she stabs him in the gut. He soon reveals he was just toying with her.
    • Chaplain blasts a hole in the Tengu Shredder's torso to keep him from striking down Karai. The Tengu Shredder responds by laughing, healing himself, and getting back to business.
    • The Turtles blast the Tengu Shredder with their mystic weapons and the music swells triumphantly... before he easily repels the attack.
  • Internal Reveal: The Turtles learn that the Heralds are the Mystic Ninja and that they were responsible for their freedom.
  • Just Toying with Them: Tengu Shredder, when he's pleading for mercy from Karai.
  • Magitek: Dr. Chaplain has been working on some for months, in preparation for Tengu Shredder's arrival.
  • Morton's Fork: The Tengu Shredder tries to force this on Karai, saying she can either get clawed by him or eaten by his serpent. Neither occurs, however, because she ducked at the last moment, causing the Tengu Shredder to behead the serpent.
  • No, You: Karai's not very good at trash-talking. She does this several times to the Tengu Shredder.
  • Oh, Crap!: Karai when faced with the giant serpent.
  • Sadist: The Tengu Shredder feigns pleading for mercy and pulls a Shapeshifter Guilt Trip to make turning the tables on Karai more amusing for himself.
  • Shapeshifter Guilt Trip: While not exactly a shapeshifter, the Demon Shredder fulfills the spirit of the trope when he uses his human face, the same as Karai's adoptive father's one, to take her off guard at the very moment when she seemed to have an advantage, though he later states that he was just playing with her the whole time.
  • Single Tear: Karai after getting slashed with a sword.
  • Skewed Priorities: The Mystics still want to go after Karai, but the Tengu Shredder defies this.
"I am finished with Karai! I have grander plans than her!"
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: Invoked by Tengu Shredder when he realizes Dr. Chaplain has feelings for Karai, mostly to let them know it's going to end tragically.
  • A Storm Is Coming: Said word for word.
Casey: Looks like a storm's coming.
Splinter: No. It is already here.
  • Super Mode: The Turtles' dragon forms—a result of their mystical training and medallions.
  • Tactical Withdrawal: After transforming back to normal, the Turtles signal April in the chopper so they can leave with Karai before their foes regroup.
  • This Cannot Be!: "Dragons?! It's not possible!"
  • This Is Gonna Suck: After Karai is struck down and the remaining Foot Ninjas are overwhelmed.
Mikey: Aw, man, we're all alone and here comes big, dark, and scary! There's no way we stand a chance now!
Donnie: Y'know, Mikey, I'm not sure we ever did.
  • This Means War!: The Tengu Shredder belittles Karai's sword, which mixes both magic and technology. When a slash actually hurts his chest, however, he goes into a rage to overcome her.
  • Torso with a View: Dr. Chaplain shoots the Tengu Shredder right through the chest, and the demon just laughs it off.
  • Transformation Sequence: Before becoming dragons, the Turtles begin glowing and floating into the air.
"If you are a white flame, it will manifest as a dragon!"
  • Trash the Set: Foot Headquarters is pretty much demolished.
  • Underestimating Badassery: The Tengu Shredder dismisses the Turtles' dragon forms as mere manifestations.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Mikey uses super speed to save Karai from the serpent, only to get attacked by her.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Discussed.
Earth Mystic: When you took that crystal from Karai on behalf of Agent Bishop, you set us free.
    Leonardo: No. NO!
Wind Mystic: You set a chain of events in motion that led to our master's rebirth.
