Donatello has managed to make a cyber portal to transport the Turtles into cyber space in order to collect Master Splinter's data bits. But whilst inside cyber space they encounter the Cyber Shredder, an amalgamation of Viral and a computer program of the Shredder before he was exiled to an ice asteroid.
This episode provides examples of:
- Body Uploading: Don has developed a way for the Turtles to physically go into cyberspace to hunt down Master Splinter's lost data bits.
- Call-Back: Raph notes that the last time they saw the Utrom Shredder — of whom the Cyber Shredder is a digital copy — he was exiled to an icy asteroid in deep space.
- Crazy-Prepared: The Cyber Shredder reveals that he created a back-up computer program of himself, in case anything happened to his physical body.
- Deadly Dodging: Donnie and Mikey just barely avert falling victim to this when the Cyber Shredder leaps out of the way.
- Delaying Action: Leo, Mikey and Raph fight the Cyber Shredder to give Don time to collect Splinter's data bits.
- Didn't Think This Through: Ch'rell never seemed to bother figuring out a way on how to bring Cyber Shredder into the physical world should he be activated.
- Evil Gloating: Cyber Shredder makes sure to spend some time explaining to the Turtles just how he came to be in his present form.
- Half the Man He Used to Be: Leo slices the Cyber Shredder in half, but because he's essentially computer code Shredder just pulls himself together again with no ill effects.
- Lampshade Hanging: Upon being mopped on the floor by Cyber Shredder, Raph rants on how their long-time nemesis always seem to get stronger with every defeat.
- Portal Door: Don pulls one up to hide the Turtles in a firewalled accounting program.
- Shout-Out: The cyber world, and especially the cyber vehicles, seems to be a shout out to TRON. Mikey also says "We are bravely going where no turtles have gone before."
- Techno Babble: Don.
- Teleport Spam: The Cyber Shredder makes good use of this, and the Turtles start to get the hang of it towards the end of the fight.
- Villain Teleportation: Cyber Shredder is much better at "thinking like a cybernaut" than the Turtles are.
