First appearance of Renet, Lord Simultaneous and Savanti Romero

This episode provides examples of

  • Adapted Out: Cerebus the Aardvark, who appeared in the comic story this episode is based upon, does not appear.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Just as Ultimate Drako is about to use the Time Scepter to finish the Turtles, Renet attacks him and summons Lord Simultaneous.
  • The Bus Came Back: The Daimyo's Son (a.k.a. the Ultimate Ninja) and Drako return as Ultimate Drako.
  • Continuity Cameo: This episode is based on one of the original TMNT comics, where Renet and the Turtles meet an anthropomorphic aardvark named Cerebus. As a reference to this, a non-anthro aardvark is seen when Renet and the Turtles arrive in the year 1406.
  • Eaten Alive: Raph gets swallowed whole by the cockroach monster, but soon fights his way out since he still had his weapons on him when he got eaten.
  • Everyone Has Standards: The turtles are less than pleased to hear their adventure with Renet was because she wanted to get out of her dusting punishment.
  • Evil Overlord: Savanti Romero has formed his own castle in medieval times as a tyrannical warlord of sorts.
  • Evil Laugh: Savanti Romero has a good one, ironically given by the same actor as Bishop, David Zen Mansley.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Ultimate Drako says their current state is this and that dying in the void probably would've been preferable had they not found an opportunity for revenge.
  • Foreshadowing: Savanti's pet suddenly starts behaving most unusually throughout the episode.
  • From Bad to Worse: Savanti hated being exiled to 1406. Lord Simultaneous takes it a step further by banishing him to prehistoric times.
  • Fusion Dance: "Ultimate Drako", a combination of Drako and The Ultimate Ninja.
  • Graceful Loser: Lord Simultaneous isn't bothered about losing his Time Scepter to Ultimate Drako as he claims the Scepter has a mind of it's own and will likely not work as the villains hoped.
  • Have We Met?: When Savanti's pet talks about being "glad" to see the Turtles again, Mikey asks if they know each other. He soon finds that they do.
  • Misplaced Wildlife: As a result of Cerebus being Adapted Out, there's an aardvark who appears as a Mythology Gag somewhere in medieval 15th century Europe. Aardvarks are really only native to Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Mythology Gag: The aforementioned aardvark appearance.
  • Never My Fault: Ultimate Drako insists the Turtles let them fall into the void—conveniently forgetting that the whole thing was their fault to begin with.
  • Not Quite Dead: It was fairly assumed that the Ultimate Ninja and Drako perished in the void, though Splinter optimistically suggested they could've somehow survived. This episode reveals they did in fact survive.
  • Not So Above It All: When Renet arrives in New York, the Turtles are playing with water balloons and one of them cheats by attacking the others with a water hose. The one who cheats? Leonardo!
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Ultimate Drako wants the time scepter solely to exact revenge on the Turtles.
  • Self-Serving Memory: Ultimate Drako going off on being "heartlessly pushed" into the void when they had actually caused Leo to lose his grip by fighting with each other.
  • Shout-Out: To Time Bandits, when Lord Simultaneous first appears as a glowing gigantic head; he even drops the line "Return what you have stolen!" The turtles fighting hideous zombies in a shadowy wasteland while wearing medieval armor also seems to evoke Army of Darkness.
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • After Savanti's pet begins talking to them, Raph observes the voices sound very familiar.
    • Savanti after Lord Simultaneous arrives, and once again when he realizes he's been sent to prehistoric times.
  • Valley Girl: Renet talks like this.
  • Voice of the Legion: Ultimate Drako will do this when they both agree on something, though they're capable of speaking independently if they so choose.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Noted by Michelangelo:
Mikey: How come all the weird stuff always happens to us? I mean, we were just minding our own business, when WHAM, that time lady fell out of the sky, right on top of us! Now we're stuck here and we've gotta go to that creepy-looking place! It just doesn't seem fair!!!
  • We Will Meet Again: Ultimate Drako vows to face the Turtles again.
  • Weirdness Search and Rescue: Lord Simultaneous is The Turtles', and Renet's, key to getting home, and defeating Savanti.
  • Wham Line: "Ah, the turtle brothers! How glad we are to see you again."
  • Wham Shot: Savanti's pet morphing into Ultimate Drako.
  • Wrecked Weapon: Savanti uses the Time Scepter to turn Don's bo staff back into a tree branch. Later, Ultimate Drako uses the Time Scepter to destroy the other turtles' weapons.
